I say fire him before the season is over and start looking for a coach so they can come in and hopefully save any recruits we have coming in worth keeping. Hart better hire a homerun this time and make money no option. Spend the cash Hart so Tennessee football can be relevant again!

Fire him after the season. There is enough talent now that a good coach can win with and save a recruiting class. It's not the same situation that Dooley inherited.

I know after South Carolina has been the target date but is there any chance Hart gets the ball rolling sooner than later?

...who finishes out the rest of the season as HC?

Sal nor Chaney seem like options at this point.

(not that it will matter at that point, but still)

Dooley will finish out as the head coach. No assistant coach is capable of carrying out the duties.

It will be Chaney most likely as the more Sr member of the staff. That's the way it usually works If there is an interim situation.
