When is the last time Tennessee was shutout....

At some point, this program has finally got to hit rock bottom.

I think we're actually past that point. Rock bottom was last year against Oregon and Alabama. It may not be showing up in the Win column, but this is clearly a better team than last year.

Maybe, but MCB, losing JJ/Hunter/Bray/Poole...things feel lower, not like we have begun the steep climb up.

emotions are not always reality

we're clearly ahead of last season...there was NEVER any optimism for the '10 season at any point.

we've just had our optimism bubble bursts and everybody got a big reality check.

Those 9-10 win season projections some were making were laughable to begin with.

I agree. I think that they are more competitive this year. They are just too thin to be without Jansen, Justin and now Bray to be effective enough to win against good teams.

We haven't beat a really good team in a loooooooong time. So I would have to say anyone still here must be a true fan.

^This has got to be the most morbid 8-4 record I have ever seen. I was only 6 and was watching UT football by then, but I have no recollection of this. No thanks for the memories...

9 wins would of easily happened if Bray and Hunter were healthy the whole season. Next year, who's going to stop us? Injuries again, knowing our luck.

1994 - Florida

Peyton's first start

We didn't get shutout last year with Simms...so I can't imagine the next two weeks would be any different unless this team quits.

That wasn't Manning's 1st start. Helton was hurt against Miss St. and his 1st start was actually Wash. St.

Losing your two playmakers on offense, having no real playmakers on defense, a weak OL and no spark at the RB position, starting a QB that was benched last year for a Freshman, and relying on kicks from Pegleg will do that to a fan. There just isn't a lot to get excited about, at this point.

Yes but we have Sims who is an experienced quarterback and has proven himself against LSU. Yes it's going to be hard, but this is a young team. They've surprised with good and bad, I expect that to continue. So yes, optimism is needed and expected.
