When does this Shoop guy arrive

Except, y'know... McDowell and Jumper don't play the same position.

I get it. Jumper isn't the greatest. All you jokers wanting to replace Jumper with Kongbo, Tyler Byrd, or Doug Atkins need to slow your roll though. Sometimes you have to play what you've got.

Jumper wasn't out there on the 69 yard run 34 & 24 took bad angles ergo TD. A lot of guys missed tackles/assignments last night. I'll let the coaches sort it out instead of sitting on the edge of my seat hoping certain players screw up. So I can post my coaching philosophy. I agree with del you lose credibility when you post stuff like so and so should replace so and so and their not even training for that position.

We have some idiot fans. Lol you can't make some of this stuff up smh.

That's a pretty strong word which I'll choose not to use. I agree however that we a fan base so uneducated about the fundamental rudiments of the game of football it is laughable. Sometimes I ask myself, "was he talking about football or maybe baseball or even basketball then I realize...no...it was football"....Not that I'm a guru or anything but I did marry a coachs daughter and the whole family makes a living in sports, some in the SEC so by osmosis I've gained some insight...interesting...

Defense played well last night. Had some wiffing early. Jumper is not the answer. Great kid not talented enough and teams will continue to exploit that severe weak point in the middle.

Moving JRM inside and having McDowell outside is the answer in the linebacker corp.

Defensive line was MUCH improved. Slow start. But when they looked good they looked unbelievably good at times.

Shy Tuttle is a HUGE HUGE HUGE addition.

I will continue to have the opinion that Derek Barnett takes way to many plays off. Don't know if it's laziness or he's looking out for his longterm interests. But it's more than aggravating. Would like to see him sidelined more because of it. It's inexcusable.....

You know that's an interesting observation. I've never considered he takes plays off, but he's definitely a slow starter. Seems like he didn't hit his stride til mid season last year?

Move JRM to MLB because he is old enough to know the position. Put McDowell at OLB. Boom. Done. McDowell is better than Jumper and we need our best players on the field. Period. Jumper is a liability. Can't cover or tackle. No speed.

I was one of the Vols fan, that didnt like the Jancek firing myself. I thought he had playing some pretty solid D last season. Thoughts?

I am not stating this as fact, but there were rumors that Jancek was chasing a lot of young coed's around. With the title IX stuff going on he never stood a chance of staying. Plus Shoop was an upgrade. Great hire by CBJ.

From what I gather, Jumper's asset to the team is that he knows how to get everyone aligned properly on defense. The Mike is the QB for the defense and the impression I get from the staff is none of the other LBs have the mental development to run that side of the ball. Obviously, Kirkland does and is first choice but we don't have a backup for Kirkland. Jumper is the best we have for that role. Clearly, there are more athletic LBs than Jumper but if everyone is not on the same page we'll have a sunseri quality defense overall. What we sacrifice in Jumper's athletic ability we gain in communication. That's just my read on the situation. Others likely see it differently. FWIW, I'd like to see Bryant or Bates, or someone else - but for whatever reason even though they may be more athletically gifted LBs they don't appear to have yet developed the capacity to run an SEC defense. jmo.

Doesn't matter if you get everyone lined up if the offense is repeatedly attacking you with success.

True dat, they were gashing Jumper for 7 & 8 yards a pop, the OC just made sure the ball went in his area whether it was a run or pass and they simply marched down the field for a TD. He has the want to, he does not have the talent to play that position IMO.

Defense is only as good as the players who implement it properly.

Game balls to: Tuttle, Vickers and Abernathy.

Injuries to Kirkland and Kongbo may cause future problems.

Jumper, Martin, Moseley need to step it up before Florida.

You are right. Jumper may be all we've got. It is not the answer I want to hear but that's not how any of this works. Maybe since Kirkland is hurt shuffling JRM into the middle would be an improvement but who knows right now.

Not trying to bash the guy. He may be extremely smart. He just doesn't have the ability and we have 3 or 4 guys I think would be better options.

He made just a few bad calls. The rest was on the team. Then he adjusted and taught the team how to handle adversity. I call that a great coach.

What you are looking for is perfection and rarely found with any good coordinator. Your expectations need to be recalibrated to reality.

Didnt Shoop say that nobody is going to run on this defense?

I thought JRM was the one who done the alignments on the D, because when he got ejected from the game last week, Sutton took over for him.

Too bad we can't let Jumper run out, line everyone up, and then sub in another MLB real quick.
