When does Tennessee return to dominance....

i hate to say it guys but even in the 90's we where not DOMINANTE. i mean we where a great program that always around the top 10 to top 5 but florida always had our number.

you all can bash me all you want but i have been a vol sense birth and was on the campus of UT....

but i think we have this vision of us being like the best football team ever in the 90s and we where great but its just a little unrealistic to say return to dominance.

we need to pump the breaks on all this countdown to national championship time. give this staff some time to build a good supporting cast of players and we will be back in the spotlight again, but i hate to say it we probably will always play second fiddle to alabama as long as saban is there...

I hate to agree but since we have one National Championship in the last 40 years its hard to argue. We were 4th in winning % in the 90's (behind FSU, Nebraska, FLA)so I guess we can hang our hats on that a bit..

When Mike Hamilton and Bob Kesling are gone, the football program will return. Laugh, gnash, cry, or moan, don't care, those are the facts.

I was just wondering about the expectations of most of the Volnations thoughts on when or what the expectations were about us returning to a more dominant SEC team much like Bama and Florida have been over the past few years. My personal expectations are we should see a significant improvement in the 2011 season and maybe 2012 being back to a powerhouse. I am being patient and I think that we have a good staff in place, one thing that I think will set us back is that some of the coaches that were initially brought in have left in a year. I think that we need most of our staff to stay around a while and build some continuity. It does make me mad of these instant gratification fans who aren't very understanding that the cubbord was left almost bone dry and most of the great players we had are seniors or leaving after this year (berry). Fulmer left this team in shambles for Kiffin. Another thing is CLK has never been a college football head coach and CMK hasn't coached college in 30 years or so. They will get worlds better every year imo. This year has definitely been a learning experience for them and they will build on this to make us one of the best again.

You and I think exactly alike. I believe that 2012 will be the year that we truly begin to compete again on a National Stage. I also agree with you about Kiffin. He is a babe in the woods compared with Meyers, Saban, Chizik, etc. I bet next year's team improves just from a coaching standpoint. Good Post!!

Once kiffin cleans out all the fulmer deadwood and brings in a bunch of 5 star players, the big wins will begin!!!

There is no way of knowing. One would hope we would have a breakout season in 2011. There is no reason we shouldn't. If we don't win the SEC in 2011 or 2012 then we're in trouble.

Anyne thinking they know is just making optimistic guesses.
We had great seasons in 1969 and 1970 and didn't win another conference title until 1985.

We have no way of knowing how players will turn out, on our team or the other SEC teams.

We could be good next year or never again.
All I know for sure is that the SEC ain't getting any easier.

true but with serious lack of depth and telent at many positions, these coaches nearly found a way to beat the 2 #1 teams in the nation. With that being said when the cupboard is full watch out. I just hope poeple arent taking our coaches on a regular basis and then our recruits following them, much like this year with Gran.

We have about a 2 yr recruiting void to fill, luckily we have freshmen who saw some PT this season, that may take a little sting out of next yr.
