Maybe they never did, and we were just lucky to have CPF at the right time for the duration we had him. Then the BOT, ADs, and Chancellors showed their incompetence ever since. The one thing they have in their corner is loyal Vol fans who continue to pay for a bad product.

You have no clue what you’re talking about here, you weren’t even alive back in the day when Tennessee was a great program....and you sure as hell don’t know about/understand what happened that led to the attitude change at Tennessee with respect to making sure our AD and football program was strong.

Stick to your ridiculous “predictions”, “film study” and “player evaluations”.

Because they used to demand greatness!! I'm so confused as to where it all went wrong.

All levels, beginning from the University president on down have to be aligned and committed to building and maintaining athletic excellence.....we haven’t had that since making structural and attitudinal changes 15 or so years ago. Then throw in how many University presidents? Then throw in awful chancellor, AD and Head Coach hires. It hasn’t happened by chance.

The great programs are committed to a great football program.....we’re simply not.

Good point but I think some people have too much pride and see attending the game as a sense of achievement. Especially if they order a ticket in advance and have been waiting all year to attend the game. Maybe if season ticket holders somehow indicated that they have no intention of purchasing tickets for next season.

Obviously our coaching situation is killing recruiting but does anyone not think if we start boycotting our team that won’t hurt recruiting as well. If we don’t get Gruden how can we convince kids to play here?

No they weren't. Dooley was fired after a road game at Vandy. The previous home game against Mizzou had 20,000 empty seats.

I was there. There definitely were empty seats but I vividly remember people talking about the crowd not being nearly as bad as we thought it might be.

Or he could discontinue them. Or submit them to Mad Magazine.

He probably wasn't there and drew that conclusion based on what he saw on TV. During the 4th quarter.

I was there too. I couldn't tell you exactly what the attendance was but they announced 91K and the crowd started booing because they felt the numbers were inflated.

Whatever the actual number of people there was, the point is.... It's about what the big donors pressure the AD into. Whether or not people use tickets they've already paid for is a concern due to the optics, but it's a distant 2nd place.

I may have it wrong, but didn't the UT administration start requiring grades for athletes that were higher than all the other sec schools? Seems like that was about 15 years ago and it made the job of fielding great teams a lot tougher.

Please elaborate.

That anyone would look at how Currie is handling this and think the admin and boosters don't care is hard to fathom. It's as if sanity has left their mind. It's now a form of group think. Posters can say it over and again that firing Butch now won't save the season. Firing Butch now won't save this class. Firing Butch now won't give us an advantage in hiring the next guy. Still, there's a mass hysteria that permeates the board. I'm not sure if they bother to read content or are simply incapable of understanding the reality of the situation. Or perhaps they're so angry over the season and have such an intense dislike for Butch that they can't wait for the season to end and want to stick it to Butch now...this very minute. They're angry Currie didn't leave him in Lexington. Nevermimd how classless that would be and how it would kill our chances at making a great hire. They want ten pounds of his flesh come hell or high water. Logic and reality be damned. Fire Butch. Fire Currie. He'll go ahead and announce to the college football world that butchs replacement has already been fired too.... in anticipation of his first loss. We demand perfection and we will burn this sucker down unless we get it. We have a bunch of spoiled, petulant, ignorant brats on this board.
