So Michigan introduces their coach today and the talking heads say things like "good fit", "fans need to be patient", and "he takes over a program in a mess". This all sounds very familiar to what we heard about a year ago and it got me thinking...When can we say we're rebuilt?

Is it when we meet our scholarship limit?

Is it when we win a certain number of games?

Is it when we can compete for the East division?

How do you define "rebuilt"?

My guess would be when you are competitive, competing year in and year out with your conference and staying consistently ranked. Depends on the school but those are the goals for UT I would think. Not to mention being in the discussion for the BCS/NC yearly.

when our team is mostly juniors seniors sophomores, and when we compete with bama florida georgia.

We are positive we are rebuilt when: we are ranked, we can compete in the seceast, and we are getting a top five recruiting class. obviously

For me it will be when depth and inexperience are no longer in the discussion for a loss. Also, the term rebuilt depends on the person's expectation of the program. For me, I expect Tennessee to compete for the East title, year in and year out. So when Tennessee is constantly in the conversation about winning the East, then I will consider the program to be rebuilt.

After all, that is where we once were. So to be rebuilt, I would have to say Tennessee has to be restored to that same level.

We are rebuilt when I feel confident in saying Tennessee will never lose another game. Ever.

When ESPN says nice things about us.

Then I guess we have NEVER been a built team.

I think we will be rebuilt when Tennessee is in the top five recruiting class and there are serious talks (realistically) that TN could take the SEC title again.

I agree with this 100%. Being a National Powerhouse is not too far off for us. Seriously, winning the East puts us there. (The SEC is that tough.)

When we are legitimately at least two deep and every position on the offensive and defensive lines.

I like your post, but I am stunned by this general sentiment, which is popping up a lot more on the board.

We threw away exactly what you say (and A LOT of people have said in the thread) you want.

I'm actually shocked by this. I know the reality is starting to set with folks, but we won the East every three years. We probably win the East this year without the Hambone Experiment.

That wasn't good enough. Surely then to be "rebuilt" we must be even better?

Not dissing you in the least, it's a good post. I'm just really, really surprised by this attitude.

It is simple.

When we we are challenging for the East we will be rebuilt.

When we are winning championships we will be satisfied.
