When are we going to move on?

Moving on? Are you kidding? I was watch watching "Sports source" a couple of weeks ago and they were talking about the 5 biggest turncoats in UT football history. One of the guests was still talking about being pissed off about Doug Dickey coaching against the gators in the 1969 Gator Bowl, even though he had already decided to coach the GATORS the following year. This individual had him the #1 turncoat, above Nico, ToTo etc. It's been 56 years!

Movie gif. Gloria Stuart as Rose in Titanic has her eyes closed as she slowly says, “It’s been 56 years.”

Kiffen I am 100% on-board with. Grown man that knew what he was doing would hurt the players and the University. Selfish and unforgivable....

Nico is still a kid and I simply can't shake the fact his Dad was a complete buffoon who grossly overestimated the market for Nico. His lack of business acumen and ego drive this to be what it is. We don't know what conversations took place but watch "Chief of War" to get some insight into their culture; you don't go against Dad. Now, if it comes out he was like "nah, eff 'em?" We would be completely aligned.
People Nico’s age are in other areas of the world fighting for your flag right now. If they can be held responsible, so can Nico. I understand what your saying, but doesn’t take the brunt of responsibility off of him in my eyes.

First and foremost I am seeking to understand, not criticize or infer negative intent. We all have the right to our opinions as well, thank goodness we live in 'Merica! 🇺🇸

When are we going to stop looking back and focus forward? All of the Nico threads, and some are quite amusing, feel like we can't get over the situation. Until mid-summer I was in the same boat to be honest. But now that JA is killing it and the other guy....forget his name.... (well, whatever, it will come to me) is on the struggle bus why do we keep going back to that well?

I suppose I just dislike the fact he is still living, rent free, in some of our fellow Vols heads when we CLEARLY have a team that will be exciting to watch and are probably better off the way it went down.

What am I missing?
Soon as folks stop making "When Are We Going To Move On?" threads.

True, but I take some insight for the reports that he refused on several occasions to attend events held by his sponsors. He would call his dad and his dad would call and raise hell. He could have attended the events and his dad would never known the difference. No, they are in this together. I look at them as one.

Agreed. I was one of them. I volunteered (see what I did there?) as did those serving now. I’m not saying he doesn’t have culpability or is free from blame. He made his choice. My point is in his circumstance what he felt obligated to do vs what he wanted to do may not be one and the same.

It’s our flag brother. And damn proud of it! Go Vols!

I didn’t know that but heard something about no showing events towards the end. If that’s true I’m listing a eff Nico thread next. 😂😂😂

Dude we're Vols fans we hold grudges🤣 and it's not that we want anything bad to happen to him but.. we get some enjoyment of watching him struggle at UCLA after all of his bs here...maybe it's just me though 🤣🍊

In truth, it is just another topic to talk about during the season. I really don't care that much about Nico, heck I thought we would be fine when he left. I just find the story entertaining to follow. I guess it is bad because I am watching someone crash-and-burn, but I can't help it.

If he would have transferred during the first portal window or before spring practice started, probably wouldnt have been as big a deal. Add in he pushes out a QB at UCLA that comes here and looks way better running the "glorified high school offense" and it's a story to follow. Now, if UGA comes in and smokes UT again, it may settle down some. But the more success the team and Aguilar have, the more it will snowball. That's what think anyway.

About moving on; I figure most of us really have moved on. The Nico bashing is just a pressure valve for some fans. It releases some of the tension.

It seems we have moved on in the sense that our new girlfriend is hotter than our old one that spurned us and can't be more delighted that she is realizing that the grass isn't always greener. At least that is what my simple mind sees.

The Joey story and the Nico story are inseparably connected. The fans didn’t do it.
