I know parents of kids with issues appreciate the 30 seconds of brainstorming followed by "have you tried..." people are always willing to offer.

I was raised by a cocaine addicted mother that stripped for money, never knew my father until I was 17yrs old, and even afterwards he had nothing to do with me. So I basically raised myself.. To make a long story short, I always felt like no matter what god had my back! So I made a lot of good decisions for myself and now I own my own business and have a wife and two little boys that will never have to go through what I went through!

My mom has now turned her life over to god, and you couldn't ask for a better lady. Sometimes she tells me what to do with my kids and I have to give her the "britch please" look!

So all in all, regardless of the circumstances people are responsible for there own actions. Hope that helps you out there Possum!!!

This. I find it hilarious when people see my well behaved kid and tell me how they wish their kid was like mine. Then they tell me how they never discipline their kid rather they let them get away with murder until becoming frustrated and then yelling at the child, never read to them, never eat dinner with them, shove them in front of a tv so mommy can have her alone time, etc. I just shake my head and nod. I have no idea why your kid is problem child.

I had an alocoholic father and a mother who worked all the time. My maternal grandparents pretty much raised me. I learned all my morals from them and still call my grandma when I have any moral situations I need advice on. My sister was raised the same way but turned out bad. She has had drug issues has 3 kids by 3 different baby daddies and now live near my mom and mooches off of her. I think when kids become a certain age they should already know a foundational this is right and this is wrong. Some advising still needs to be done on the questionable situations.

One thing I tell my sons is that as long as you have my last name (which theyll always have) they represent the family. As long as they represent the family they will bring no shame or dishonor because in doing so they undermine what everyone has done before us.
