UAB UT

1st Downs: 23 15

3rd down efficiency: 9-23 2-15

4th down efficiency: 2-2 1-1

Total Yards: 544 287

Passing: 429 245

Comp-Att: 33-60 19-34

Rushing: 115 42

Rushing Attempts: 32 27

Yards per rush: 3.6 1.6

Possession: 36:07 23:53

The three things that must get fixed: 3rd down conversions, the yardage differential and rushing.

It is a minor miracle that with these number UT won.

UT needs to send a huge thank you to Mr Zhan.

UAB would have won if they added the local high school kicker to the roster.

Fickle place....our losses are moral victories and our wins are not wins.

True. And I like Dooley's comment about never not celebrating a victory because they are hard to come by.

I agree. But my point is the numbers aren't numbers that win you a lot of games.

Oh, and do not believe in moral victories. Total crap.

Still have no idea why UAB opted to try a 54 yard FG on their final drive rather than go for it. We weren't stopping them on defense, and even if we did there's no way they could have been afraid of our offense driving the field and kicking a FG of our own.

Stats aside, we won. Be happy with the fact.

I wondered the same thing. I think they would have got it easily. Bonehead decision by their coaches.

Never know what a true "W" can do for the team's psychy....especially how they did it in 2OT.

It must be noted that UT's sacks are rolled into the rushing stats.

Our RBs had the following stats:

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=480253Oku 8 33 4.1

Poole 6 23 3.8

Neal 4 20 5.0

The annoying thing is I feel like none of them had a chance to get into a rhythm. I was never a RB, but I would think that going in for one carry and then going straight back to the sideline would be counter-productive not to mention frustrating.

Also, it's not like this matters as our rushing day was overwhelming pathetic considering the opponent, but I thought it should be noted.

If you hadn't seen the game but only saw the stat sheet, what would you guess the score to be?

stats are fun to look at and everything but if you change the UAB to Florida or Alabama everyone is partying instead of crying.

It's not pretty but a win is a win

Do you even realize the retardation of what you just typed?

Between Florida, Alabama and UAB who is the odd one out? Don't even try to equate UAB with even Georgia or South Carolina... much less the teams that have 3 of the last 4 National Championships.

Tennessee is young and inexperienced, and the staff is new to Tennessee as well. There is no way Dooley will get the caliber recruits that can perform in the SEC, there is simply too much competition. We as fans can watch the total embarrassment unfold and wait for a carbon copy the next year. Dooley may be a good coach but in the SEC good does not cut it. Fire Hamilton and hire a coach that can compete and bring Tennessee back to competing and ranking. This is a disaster.

This also baffled me. I was sure they were going to break a speed option for a first down. It was about then I decided we might not lose.

And if he doesn't win after 3 or 4 games then what do you do my friend....especially knowing that he would have to rebuild after this sorry staff we have(according to you). Fill us in please.

yes, everyone would be ecstatic about a 3 point double overtime win against teams that are at least 14 point favorites over UT.

However, UT was the 14 point favorite in this case and a double overtime win leaves a bad taste even though its a win.

To give you the opposite scenario I am sure that Oregon fans would have been disappointed with the same stat comparison and a 3 point double overtime win against UT. Their fan base and the media would be all over them.
