What's your gut telling you about the UCLA game?

I am confident we will win. But I think it will be closer than we want. Like 10-13 points. It's a new OC and QB. I honestly don't see how anyone can expect a lot out of that in the first game. I expect to see a lot of success and failure on that side of the ball. If we don't have more than 2 turnovers, and the kicking game holds up we should be fine. Special teams still scare the crap out of me.

my gut tells me that if we don't win this game, rather comfortably, then i am completley wrong about my outlook for this year's version of the Vols. I don't necessarily expect a blow out, there's still that element of the unknown, but we have better players than they do, and their O line is a shadow of what it was, and they're down to the #3 qb.........even in a defensive struggle, we should be able to outscore this UCLA team, even in the Rose Bowl. i'm thinking something like 31-17, 27-14.....something along those lines......

i expect tennessee to control this game throughout but i do expect our redzone offense to be a concern until shown otherwise. i can see us being pretty good between the 20's and then bogging down a lil bit towards the goal line. i see our d forcing a couple of turnovers and the linebackers making plays. i want to see us stop the run from the first series. im thinking we win 27-10. crompton looks serviceable, foster, jones, taylor and warren look like players. on D, we stop the run, get off the field , and secondary gets a pick or 2

Why does everyone worry about our new OC and QB when everyone is saying Auburn, who is operating with the same situation, is going to be great? That I don't get.

i feel real good about this game. i think that we win easily, but if we turn the ball over early or cannot run the ball it could be alot closer than we like. we need to come out strong and establish the run game to let them know it's our game. if we do that, we win by 14-17 easily. go vols!!!

I think that it may be close in the first half with only marginal success on offense. I suspect that the halftime score may be something like 10-3.

I really do not think that UCLA can move the ball on us very well at any point during the game.

I think that we open it up in the second half as their front 7 gets a little tired and the run game takes over. I expect the final score to be something like 34-17 with one of UCLA's TD's comming against our second team defense late.

Considering that Berry has more starts than UCLA's whole secondary combined, only 1 Offensive Lineman has ever played a snap at the college level (the Center), they're WR's have a combined 4 starts, They're RB is coming off a major injury and the QB is starting his 1st game and that against UT's secondary after an inexperienced Bruin secondary had their way with him. 31-13

I see the offense starting very methodical (short throws, swings, runs) and if we have success on offense and get them down early, I expect the flood gates to open from the D. With an inexperienced QB and O-Line I think we hit Craft a lot. I think we get after him like we did against Wisconsin last year only with even more success. I think we will all be pleasantly surprised w/ the front 7, and we get 4 or 5 sacks and a couple picks. If this happens then I think we win 38-14, due to balance, field position, and turnovers.

Well six days out, what is your gut feeling going into the UCLA game? Are you calm and confident, or just have a lot of anxiety? I, for one, am calm and confident that we will win by at least 14 points. I also think that while Clawson doesn't want to put too much out there for Florida to see, the offense will be pleasingly efficient. I will say that I am anxious to see how the defense plays, whether it's lights out, or same ole, same ole.

First off love the avatar! I had a dream last night that we got out to a big lead and barely held on for a 31-28 win.

I always feel anxious before UT kickoff, I dont care who they are playing. I have to work and miss the first game, so I will be checking my phone constantly. I think we will win.

I did not know this about UCLA. I had heard that their front 7, especially DL, was far and away their strength. This was brought up otob about their DL 2-deep:

LE: Tom Blake; 6'4" 255 sr. Former transfer walk-on. Had 18 solo tackles and 3 sacks in 2007.
DT: Brian Pierce; 6'2" 300 soph. had 9 solo tackles and 1 sack in 13 games in '07
DT: Brigham Harwell; 6'1" 280 sr. Coming off major knee injury. played in two games in in 07, with 2 solo tackles. In '06, he started 12 games, and had 17 solo tackles and a sack.
RE: Korey Bosworth, 6'1" 244 jr. Played in 13 games in '07, and had 21 solo tackles and 2 sacks.

Now, as for depth (oh boy)...

LE Stokes is a RS soph who so no action last year
DT Siewerski had 8 tackles in 13 games
DT Moline weighs a whopping 241 lbs
RE Carter played in 3 games w/ 3 tackles and a sack
