What's your Georgia story?

I was working at the Terminal Brewery as a line cook during the Dobbnail boot game. I had an iPad set up in the kitchen to watch the game off a stream. The stream we had in the kitchen was about 10 seconds behind the live feed. As the game was getting to the end we heard a crazy commotion come from the dining area, I knew that something wild had happened and I glued myself to the feed to see what happened. Right about then Eason completes his long bomb for them to go ahead with just a little bit of time to go. I was pretty bummed but then all of a sudden an even louder eruption comes from the dining area and everyone in the kitchen is confused. "wait, didn't GA just win? What are they yelling about up there." That's when it hit me, somehow we found a way to win! I glued myself back to the iPad to watch Jennings catch the Hail mary. What a wild way to be clued into how that game ended.

Worse experience was in 2005. I lived in South Knoxville and walked to the game alone for some reason (I don't remember why I wasn't in a group). I know I had people that I sat with but I walked back alone through a crowd of Georgia fans and it was brutal. I had a grudge with them after that.

I will say that I went to Athens last year and had an opposite experience with Georgia fans. There was a few off-wall ones here and there but most were great.

Favorite wins over Georgia are 2004 and 2007 because both were just unexpected. I do remember many years where we used to play Georgia better than Alabama and Florida and of the Big 3, I always felt more confident against them. That changed with Kirby Smart.

I was there. I was sitting with the alumni. They were supposed to be so good… And they were. They had Zeier, Hearst, Terrell Davis and a stable of receivers. I remember Zeier was already crowned to be SEC player of the year, first team, quarterback, Heisman Trophy winner, blah blah blah.

I had watched Heath play JV (back when they had JV games during the week in Neyland Stadium). I was so excited for him to get his chance. That was when he and Colquitt were going back-and-forth. Every time Shuler would come in I would stand up and yell, “now y’all get to see a real quarterback”. Just young and stupid.

After we beat them, the Georgia fans were so nice. They were coming up to me and shaking my hand, patting me on the back and telling me what a great game it was. It was weird. My buddy explained it. He said they were “used to losing”.

I don’t think we will get the same reaction when we beat them this year…

2006 Late Friday night before the game Knowson Moreno is behind the bar at General Beauregard grabbing and serving drinks. That’s when it first occurred to me that Mark Richt had lost control of his football team 😂

Next day celebrating on the way out of Sanford stadium got chased by some rather fat and very redneck Georgia fans because they didn’t like my orange and white shakers. They may or may not have barked at me I couldn’t really tell it might have been just heavy breathing

We were supposed to stay with a friend of a friends house at UGA but they were all so drunk and angry we didn’t want to take our chances and thought it safer to drive back to Atlanta for the night

I've never been able to shake being at the hobnail boot game when it comes to UGA. Neyland was moving. Literally. You could feel the stadium swaying in YY. Then complete silence. You could've heard a pin drop up there.

Called the vols my 2nd favorite team since 97. Seen Peyton live at the rose bowl against ucla. Wife and I wanted to leave the state of CA after getting married where we were both from. Went on vacation to TN for first time and finally saw a game in Knoxville which was the 41 to 0 loss in Butch Jones last year. We moved to Knoxville anyways because the city/East TN had our heart. Been all Vols slowly after that trip when we knew we would move here. At least saw the Bama streak end in Neyland and got to experience the magic at Neyland years after.

1. 1989 - first SEC game I had ever attended. Me and my friend sold drinks and when the game started we hid our carrier and watched the game in some empty seats 3 rows from the top of Neyland. Final game of the Cobb-Webb era as Webb was dismissed before the Alabama game. Vols -17 Georgia - 14 this win started a 9 game winning streak. 1989 started an epic run of Tennessee Vols football that culminated with a National Championship in 98.

2. 1992 - My first SEC road game. Watched Heath Shuler become the man.

My story is my dad was born and raised in GA and was a big GA fan. I became a fan of TN because I seen how it made my family feel to see us beat bama so regular. Was never dull moment in the house on game day. That’s it lol

There's a lot of them but the coolest memory was that 06' game. I was working at a phone company , it was mostly dead that day and a lot of them weren't really into football , but they overheard the commotion and were like...what game are you watching?!? "Tennessee/Georgia" ...and they were like " what ? Wasn't Tennessee losing like 5 minutes ago?!? " " Yep :)" We woke up"

I despise UGA. I despise Athens. Nothing worthwhile comes from Athens.

REM sucks. Michael Stipe is a moping wannabe poet.

The B52s are awful as well.

I used to think the only good thing from Athens was Terrapin. But I even soured on that because it comes from Athens.

If that’s not enough, you always have to keep your head on a swivel because somebody thinks it’s ok to bark in your face. Athens is filled with Uncle Lou’s.

I live 46.7 miles northeast of Athens. When my wife had surgery just outside of Miami, I had to come back for the kids/work, her sister stayed. When I went to get her, after 2 long weeks, I crossed the Florida state line from my driveway in 4 hours. Laws were broken that morning😆
