What's your Georgia story?

2006. Had just started dating the wife (from GA but doesn't care about sports). Down at half, down going into the 4th, and then BOOM! 27 point 4th quarter.

I've yet to see us beat them in person. 3 times in Knox, and 2 times in Athens.

My first SEC game as a student was a blowout win over uga. Was hoarse for the week after but it was so much fun

Drove down in 98 with a few friends in an rv. It was dark when we got there but we found a spot in a bank drivethru. Woke up the next morning surrounded by uga tailgates. They were very loud before the game but not many were left when we got back

My dad and I went to the game and a couple of friends didn’t make it so we had two extra tickets. Found a dad and his son holding two fingers up. Drove right by, rolled the window down and handed the kid the two tickets for free. The look on their faces was if we had handed them a gold brick.
Awesome game, big win while Tennessee fans watched Georgia fans file out in front of us. One of my favorite games of all time

The game when Kiffin turned Johnathan Crompton into an effective quarterback. It was wonderful watching the UGA fans leave early.
I was also at the game when we came back to lead with less than 2 minutes left. After shutting down their offense with a great pass rush led by John Henderson, Chavis decided to go into his famous prevent defense. Aauugh!
Saturday would be a great day to avenge that tragedy.
Outside of that game, Crompton threw more passes in the dirt than any tn qb I’ve ever seen

09... 45-19 Tenn win. It was the day after my birthday and we threw a huge tailgate in Circle Park. We had a blast and then we beat the brakes off GA.

16 I was watching with family. When GA scored my FIL packed up his stuff and was heading out the door. I told him... "It's not over yet... just wait." When JJ caught the ball I turned to him and said "I told you so!" I never let him live that down. That man bled orange until the day he died.

1993 #8 TN vs #22 GA. It was my freshman year and my first big home game as a student. Me and my friends were at Sam and Andy's when a big middle-aged crowd of GA fans came by and a couple of them opened the doors and started jeering. One of them had one those mini blow horns and they started talking up a storm with another group of middle aged Vol fans. At first it looked pretty rowdy, but turned out it was all in good fun and both sides ended up laughing and shaking hands and saying good luck to each other. It was a fun sight and left me an impression of how a good fun rivalry should look like. We ended up winning 38-6 so playing that well against a ranked team gave us optimism, but no. We ended up losing to those g-'turds the next week and wouldn't beat them again until the year I finally graduated in '98.

2006.

My UGA-grad wife and I are sitting in the UGA faculty section.

I’m rocking orange pants with a white oxford - PRE-DOOLEY - thanks very much.

UGA proceeds to roll us up in the first half. It’s 24-7 Dawgs, until sweet baby Erik Ainge leads us down the field on an 11-play 80-yard drive capped by a Arian Foster TD before halftime.

24-14 Dawgs.

Second half, we completely destroy them.

I mean we absolutely dominate all three phases on every dadgum play in the second half. This includes a blocked punt recovered for a touchdown by Antonio Wardlow that has appeared in my avatar ever since.

It’s seriously the best I’ve ever seen the Tennessee Volunteers play in my life, including the 1998 National Championship game.

After that blocked punt to go up 10, I start in on Rocky Top and some TA in a muscle shirt starts to try and get all the professors to boo me. Our tailgate companions - an English math professor and his smokeshow Cuban wife - proceed to shout this clod down like Cyrano de Bergerac.

They offered that I’d been perfectly quiet while we were getting our arses beat, and that it wasn’t my fault Joe Tereshinski had baby T-Rex arms (or words to that effect.) The Cubana was putting out vibes like she would start some true shat, and I was happy I had helped them get their marriage license from the Clarke County courthouse on their wedding day.

I’ve loved Athens ever since.

The Dobnail boot is the best UGA memory for most of us obviously. I had to listen to the radio as I was at the inlaws doing some work up in the mountains where they didnt have cable or reliable internet. I remember turning it off when UGA went up late, but I ended up turning it back on a minute later out of guilt for giving up. Glad I did, because when Jennings grabbed it the radio broadcast lasted 5 seconds after that. It was amazing because I all heard from the radio while I was clearing brush was VOLS WIN, then my radio completely cut out. I was stunned sitting in the middle of 100 acres with no internet thinking, what the heck just happened?

Worst - 'hobnail boot.' I wanted to throttle Munson.
Best- Dob-nail boot. I was ecstatic when we had the strip and recovery in the end zone for the go-ahead TD. I thought the game was over until Eason threw the TD bomb. My yelling and cussing brought in the whole family. We all watched as Jennings caught the ball from Dobbs. I still get goosebumps.

I was a sophomore at UT when I took my parents to their first Tennessee game; just so happened to be the Georgia game when Kiffen and friends put the wood to them 45-19.

A couple of drunk Georgia fans in the hotel elevator gave my folks $20 for a few donuts; nice fellas.

Growing up in the 90s and missed the Dooley era didn’t really think too much of them because we always beat them and prior to the sec east forming didn’t play them that much. Placed them on the same tier as South Carolina, Kentucky, and vandy who were usually easy wins though they had their moments. Wasn’t until the 2000s when Richt came were they considered a major rival. As an undergrad at Tennessee I remember watching the 03 game in-person which was a gut punch.

2004 game remains one of the most unexpected/unlikely road wins that I can recall as a vol fan.

My Dobbnail boot story: We we watching the game at the house with a bunch of friends and my wife invited her girlfriend and her obnoxious, idiot husband who was total football retard. He was slobbering on and on how Georgia was gonna whip us. Every time he was in the room we played like crap and everytime he left good stuff would happen.
After the Eason girl threw the bomb for a touchdown at the end he was talking all manner of shite. Just before the last play, he stepped outside to get at drink out of the cooler during the commercial. I locked his azz outside. The Dobbnail Boot happens, everyone loses their minds and he's looking through the window knocking on the door like a fool. It was the best. To this day I take credit for changing the mojo and winning that game.

First game I can remember attending…. I remember looking up at one point and seeing us ahead something along the lines of 33-6.

After doing a little digging, it looks like this was likely in ‘93 with UT winning that game 38-6.

In 1988, my girlfriend (now wife) and I went to Athens to watch the Vols. We stayed with a high school friend and her roommates. While at the game, our friend’s apartment was broken into and several items stolen. On the way back to the apartment from the game, I got into my first car accident and the front, passenger side of my car got smashed. Thankfully, no one was hurt but we drove back to Knoxville with the air and rain coming in through the top of the now c-shaped door. The worst part of the trip was the L suffered by the Vols.

I only have bad stories with this game sadly. Unfortunately my first Georgia game was 2014. It was a road game and the fans couldn't have been "nicer" in the beginning. But it was that kind of "little brother" nice where they knew UT wasn't a threat so no need for any hate. As the game went on, UT actually gave them a good game and the fans grew more and more hostile. The game was actually really close to the very end. UT lost and it was around the time when UT had been so bad that I would convince myself of moral victories.

THEN in 2017 my dad and I got the bright idea to go up to the game in Knoxville and my aunt, who is a rabid Dawgs fan (she married into it), decided to come with us. Pure torture. 41-0 drubbing and it was abundantly clear that Butch was done.

1988, an attorney with whom I worked was a UGA grad. At the last minute, he gave me his four tickets and parking pass. With my Vols flags flying, I pulled into the most exclusive parking area, next to the stadium entrance. Approaching the entrance, I encountered three Vols fans seeking to buy tickets. I asked if they were willing to join me in the heart of Georgia season ticket holders. They agreed, and I gave them the tickets (they bought me a beverage as thanks). Once we were seated, a woman yelled at us that she knew whose tickets we were using, and he was going to hear from her! The Vols were leading at the half, but Georgia shut down the Vols in the second half and won the game. Yeah, the loss was disappointing, but I and three Tennessee strangers embodied the best of traveling Vols fans. We represented well in a hostile environment.

My favorite memory is definitely the Dobbs to Jennings miracle. I've never been on such an emotional roller coaster. In a matter of seconds we went from Georgia fans all arpund me barking in my face to me just laying on the ground screaming at the top of my lungs in disbelief. The most amazing thing was the walk out of the stadium back to the car with my brother-in-law (who is a big Georgia fan) and it was absolutely nobody talking. It was like the whole stadium was in shock.
Saved me a lot of typing. We were on the GA side and with fans standing to celebrate we did not see the catch. Just the roar from our fans. Scoreboard went black immediately. Then that quiet walk to the car.
