What's your fastest speed on a public road?

Speed is a relative thing, based on how the vehicle is capable of handling high speeds, the road situation/condition and the nature of the vehicle. For example, my Miata is much more stable at 110 than my wife's Forester at 80, and thus doesn't feel as it is going as fast.

I agree with that, 150+ in the Evo felt a lot more stable and controllable than 120 did in my 5.0

I took a Caddy with a Northstar engine down an airplane runway once. The digital speedometer started blinking at 120. I was going well over that. Those were bad-ass engines.

My best friend has one of those. It's amazing the gas mileage they get. On cruise control for a long trip, he's come in around 27 mph. And, it's still a bad ass engine with a good growl. They made a 2011 station wagon with a Corvette engine pumping 556-horsepower.

The public roads thing throws me off. I've gone much faster in a few cars and on a few bikes, but my fastest recorded speed on a public road has to be from 2007. I was pulled over in Wyoming on Interstate 80 in an 80 mph zone going 130 mph. The state trooper told me I needed to slow down and enjoy the scenery. For anyone who has never traveled through there, it was a section that was in the middle of nowhere. Only farmland and cattle ranches with some exits that were 25-30 miles apart. No traffic at all other than me. The only other egregious speeding incident that was recorded was many, many years ago. The speed limit on Chapman Highway around the McDonald's used to be 35 mph. Not sure what it is now. Shortly after my 16th birthday, I was pulled over and hauled to Juvie for going 90 mph. This was at a time, that most of you can't comprehend, when the traffic in that area was very, very sparse.

My best so far is 132 down the road towards the airport. My Volvo has some giddy up to it. I do 100+ on 26 on the way to school on lonely nights. One of these nights THP is going to nail my a$$.

The 132 was hill aided.

why was he going so slow??

138 mph. Car felt like it was floating or I would have tried for more. I've gone faster on a bike but I couldn't tell you how much. To skeeeered to look down at the speedometer.

So what you're saying is you're trying to get nailed in the a**. Gotcha.

I did 125 on I10 going from El Paso to Memphis in a day. That was in a Chrysler Town and Country minivan. We were moving on military orders from Hawaii to Agusta Georgia and the day before we left Hawaii we decided we would get divorced at the end of the trip so I was trying to make the trip as short as possible. We left LAX at 9pm Saturday and made it to Clarksville TN at 7pm Tuesday.

I am staying out of the endzone, sir. I just made it back. People will try to instigate stuff and my ass will end up getting the boot. Again.
