Here is an aerial shot I found on another board of the ACC title game. I was shocked at the lack of attendance. The ACC has to be embarrassed about this....or should be.

WOW. I knew it would be bad, but that is the first I have seen of it. Unreal.

the ACC cringed when Clemson lost to BC.

there are only 4 programs that truly care about football in the ACC........Clemson, VT, FSU and Miami.

the reason the game was put in JAX was because of the inevitable FSU/Miami games that were supposedly set up when they set up their divisions.

the ACC had no idea, nor did they want, teams like Boston College, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest would play in it's title game.

Look for the game to get moved to Charlotte in near future.

I think that pic is real. They showed a shot of Paul McGwire sitting next to the sideline camera and in the background you could tell that there was nobody in the upper deck.

Does the ACC rotate where the Championship game is played every year?

it is. they were making a big deal about how many tickets were still availble for that game last week in Charlotte. reports had it that less than 20k were going to show up, turns out to be fairly accurate.

no, JAX got the bid over Charlotte when the ACC expanded.

it's likely to get re bid and move to Charlotte in the near future.

Now that, as a high school player would make me not want to play in the ACC.
i think the ACC and it's member schools are saying the same thing.

playing FSU and Miami every year doens't have the cache that it used to and it's biggest stage in football was dreadful from a buzz and attendance standpoint.

basically........no one cares. couple that with your ACC champ getting throttled by the SEC champ earlier in the season, and 2nd tier begins to mean a lot more in regards to the ACC as a BCS conference.

They should. I think it's unfair to ask people from Boston to travel all the way down to Florida for the championship game. Shoot, it's quite a journey from Virginia for that matter. This is why the attendance was dismal.

that's an easy cop out, but the truth of hte matter is, if it's not one of those 4 programs, their fan bases simply don't care. the rest of the league's fans are saving their money for trips to the ACC bball tourney and NCAA sites for March.

I'm sure that's true too, but did you have to call my post a cop out?

I think if the SEC title game was in Alaska it would be full unless Vandy and and Ole Miss or Miss State was playing!

I'd have to disagree with you there.

Welcome to the board though.

Fine, from now on I'm going to get on you about capitalizing when you make your thread titles. I usually capitalize them for you, but no more.

Jacksonville had the game for three years. Next year it will may be in Charlotte, or may rotate to several cities.

There were 53K tickets sold, but I think that local estimates were about 40k people in the seats.

I think there are several reasons:

1) Fans in the ACC are BBall not FBall fans. The UK vs. UNC BBall game the same day had higher ratings that the ACC FBall chamionship.

2) Smaller schools. BC has fewer than 100,000 alumni. Last year Wake Forest had fewer than 40,000 alumni. These aren't schools that have followers that didn't attend a day of class -- like the SEC.

3) Save my money for the bowls. From what I heard in in Jacksonville a lot of the BC fans were holding back to travel to the Bowl game instead. I understand that call. I would have loved to go to the SECCG, but I saved my $ for the New Years bowl trip.
