What's with the trash can??

Butch is a far better recruiter than he is a coach. His teams do play hard for the entire game regardless of score. His in game decisions are sometimes head scratchers. I still wonder what he was doing on that last possession of the first half why did he not use any of the time outs? We could have possibly got in field goal range if he would take a little time to draw up a play.

Considering the arse-whooping his team was getting (and not reflected in the score), I think he just wanted to get into halftime to re-adjust. Not a CBJ apologist, but I would have probably done the same thing.

I liked the trash can.

College FB players play with as much emotion as talent. Anything to get their emotions up is fine by me.

I used to hate when CPF would overly-manage his emotions on the sideline while other coaches (Trooper) would be chest-bumping etc. If it gets the players motivated, then whatever it takes.

Remember when the Defense was gassed in the first half a Butch had three times outs in his pocket :thud:

Remember when Butch called time out in regulation when it appeared Tech would not get the ball snapped in time.

Whew, that was a close one :thud:

The players looked excited when they got to dunk a ball. Isnt that all that matters?

Have fun much ... or just always hate life? Guess alabamas belt was worse? Or better... because it was a wrestling reference.

Heh, it was a neat gimmick, and smart one.

Generating turnovers and taking advantage of them was going to be one of the keys to this game (and it turned out to be THE key). Having a visual reminder of that running up and down the sideline is not a bad idea. Not bad at all.

Gimmicky? Sure. But right on target for the needs of this game.

Put another one in the bucket. Get used to this. The more we win and the better we look the more people are going to have to find something to trash UT over. Tune out the noise and enjoy the ride folks. Haters gonna hate.

Didn't see this--did coach really put a trash can on the sideline as some sort of motivational tool? Who's the lucky guy who gets to carry that out before the game. Yikes.

I thought it was dumb when our D was getting thrashed, but on 2 TO's you could see players passion to dunk the ball. If it works I'm all for it. Maybe a goofy way to focus the team to make turnovers.

Oh it gets better. There is a poor guy that carries it along the sideline, high up in the air.

This is a stupid idea. I have seen to many players get injured doing less. All I can see is one of our guys going to dunk and blowing out a knee or something. Just play football! The General and The Bear didn't need stupid gimmicks to get the players ready to play. These young men are playing in the SEC and for UT, this should be enough!

It is neither neat nor smart.

Some of you must have never played sports or participated on a team.

Good grief, when we force a fumble to beat Bama, you all will be cheering wildly when the team dunks the ball in that trash can.

Let the team do whatever it is that motivates them. It is their choice not yours.
