He may be a pri** but don't fool yourselves. If he would have come here we would be singing his praises.

Interesting point. He takes some of the luster away from Alabama by not having a good personality as a coach. But then again, a lot of very good players want to play football there, so it makes me wonder what he's like on a personal level.

To all of you saying Saban keeping the starters in while being up 30 is classless, I have a question. If we were beating Alabama by 30, would you be screaming for Butch to take out our starters? I don't expect any honest answers so go.

FYI, I would not tell Butch to take the starters out. At least I am honest about it.

I totally agree with this. Saban seems like he is completely miserable. I know it is a lot of money, but how long will he keep it up? I think he gets the 3 in a row and retires...anyone else?

That, of course, assumes that he can get through the Ducks meth offense...

After watching the game today it just makes me wonder. Saban is as miserable and terrible of a human being as you'll ever see. The way he carries himself up and down the sidelines is completely ridiculous. He is always pissed. Never congratulates anyone. And just berates everyone around him. He constantly embarrasses his players and assistants on national TV. Did you hear Verne talking about how Kirby smart will miss Halloween night with his children because he'll be out on the road recruiting? And what thanks does he get from saban. He calls a time out so he can get in his fave and scream at him while leading 28-0. And saban doesn't limit his venom to his players and coaches.Far from it. IIt's pathetic and mind boggling that he apparently let's the fans know when it's OK to come or go from the game. People pay a ton of money to attend these games. Yet I guess the need his permission to leave early. And let's not forget to mention how big of a prick he is to the media. He berated every reporter to dare ask him about the bama job while he was still in Miami.HHow dare anyone question his integrity. Or his commitment to Miami.

It may seem crazy but it'll be a cold day in hell when a coach tells me I can't leave a game early to beat the crowd home while wrapping up a 50 point win. I'll say this... If that's what it takes to have that kind of success, they can have it. At least as a fan base we have our testicles. And if I was a coach no amount of money would be enough to work for that piece of $hit. And if I was a recruit, no amount of playing time would justify being humiliated constantly in front of a national audience.
Enjoy it while it last bama! You're all Saban's b****

His focus is single minded. He wants to be in the College Football Hall of Fame. Win! Win! Win regardless of how many people you berate or belittle.

However; Bobby Knight was that type of coach also, and the players either loved him or hated him. There was no middle ground.

What a load of crap. You're lying to yourself, but if that makes you feel better, then by all means. There is not a UT fan alive that would be disappointed if Saban were hired, and if you say otherwise you're a complete fool. The guy wins. He's not paid to be a nice guy, he's paid to win games and he does. And don't feel sorry for their assistance coaches because they'll end up making millions as head coaches themselves. No one outside the state of Bammer likes him, I get that. But he doesn't get paid to be Mr. congeniality. I just hope one day no one outside the state of TN likes Butch.

General Patton was a tough hombre, but his men loved him. Recruits respect the coach but love the man.

Are you really comparing a General who helped win a war to a slimy cheating, quitter football coach?

And yes he quit! He had 1 year left on his Miami contract.

I saw Saban with a little smile on his face when talking to McCarron at one point after Bama got up 28-0. It was only for a moment, but it was there.

I'm not lying to myself. I really wouldn't want him as our coach. Maybe one day I'll feel that desperate but not today. If we could get an excellent coach (whom I actually believe we have) that could consistently get us top 10 recruiting classes and have us competing for an secc over couple/few years. I'd take it, so long as he's a good guy and good representative of our program and state. Saban is a guy that consistently has the no. 1 recruiting class and compete for a NC just about every year. But he none of those other things. Hes a total piece of garbage that is a terrible representative of his University and state. To me he's just like Petrino.

Did Saban murder someone? Does he cheat on his wife? Is he a drunkard? I don't get your logic. He's a terrible person because he preaches perfection, and in doing so he yells and screams and is never satisfied? That makes him a bad person?
He is hired to win. As much as I hate it, he is very good at what he is hired to do. Now, would I hire him to run the Chamber of Commerce? No. But to coach a team.....hell yes.

He screams at and humilitiates everyone around him constantly from assistant coaches, to players, to the media and even the fans. Hes also the most notorious over signer in college athletics. Which is a real slime ball trait as well (kids go there over other top programs only to be forced to grayshirt, take medical redshirt, or ultimately transfer). He lied about leaving Miami and berated anyone questioning him regarding it. You can't argue that he's a total jerk. Telling the fans they can't leave... I've never heard a coach do that at any level. What a douche!

I take it you haven't spent a lot of time around coaches. You really need to open your eyes. Most coaches are arrogant a-holes, and that is a fact.

Mark Richt is a great guy. I guess you would rather have him if you had your choice. Okay man, whatever. Keep living in la la land.

Not a matter of defending anyone. My point is simple: A football coach is hired to win games. He is not hired to coddle the coaches and players, or fan base for that matter. Pretending that "I wouldn't want Saban" is being dishonest. And not to mention pretty stupid.

He doesn't EVER look happy or satisfied. He's like Spurrier in a lot of ways, or how he used to be before he got old & mellowed some. I bet Saban is never happy about anything & that's sad for him. I'm sure it rubs off on guys who work & play for him.

I would rather win with Butch who cares about the players and is "like a father" to them. because at the end of the day we are fans and this is just a game we really have no control over......and if you are really and truly a vol fan, you are a fan of not only the coach but the players as well. saban is probably the best coach in college football right now but OP is right. he is a tiny, miserable tyrant who wouldnt have **** on a player's coach who cares about our guys and our university.... there is something to be said for coaches like that. easy to see why recruits wanna play for CBJ. and on top of it hes not a terrible in-game coach.

recruits will take one look at the way it feels when tn wins versus how it feels to win at bama and i hope they go running away from the tiny tyrant. he doesn't GAF about his players.

yeah but theres a difference between screaming because you care and want them to get better and screaming because they weren't perfect but are still leading by a huge margin..
