What is the deal with many on here giving a truckload of credit to CPF for his "love" for and devotion to UT?

I just don't get it. It is immaterial to winning football games, preparing young men to play, developing players and functional men, and almost anything else that has to do with competing on a national level with other great football programs.

Most great coaching hires in the NCAA (football and men's bball) started out with limited affiliation with the university at which they have enormous success. Why do we feel the need to include it as a part of our wish list? CPF's long term affiliation with UT has become more of a problem than a help at this point.

Fulmer has done a great job representing our university off the field better than 99% of the college coaches out there.

Unfortunately, its the on the field stuff that is seen.

Because people are scared a coach will use UT as a stepping stone to go on to NFL jobs.

Find the coach with the least ambition

he isn't being paid to do anything but the on field stuff, IMO. When that's where it should be, he can moonlight all he wishes. Until then, win football games or pack it in.

I would think it would be easier to be a humanitarian if he wasn't so distracted by a job. This favorite son stuff is getting old.

his humanitarian-ness is worth exactly jack in the context of coaching a football team. Favorite sons are a dime a dozen, good football coaches far harder to come by.

Put a young defensive minded coach with fire in his gut in charge at UT. You would wake up a sleeping giant.

One could argue exactly how much it is worth period...but seeing him leave is enough for me. No need to bust anymore bubbles.

I just want us to evaluate the staff based upon their worthiness to coach and man the football program, period. All other evaluation criteria are useless, IMO.

For those itching to lambaste me with some moral agenda - don't, I understand that.

That is becoming a more appealing option. I wonder what kind of man he is off the field.:eek:lol:

As long as he doesn't pull a Mike Price I could care less.

Hell I don't even care about that. If he wants to be entertained by strippers let him have poles in his office.

If you're going to slander the Polish, at least capitalize it.
