Watch ESPN and listen to Paul Finebaum (who is an ESPN & Alabama Stooge), and you would believe that Tennessee fans just rushed to judgment. No mention whatsoever of the Washington Post story, which includes information released from lawsuit regarding deposition testimony that former Penn State assistant Tom Bradley said Schiano went to him in the early 1990s “white as a ghost and said he just saw Jerry doing something to a boy in the shower.” Of course ESPN being ESPN, there is no doubt that had we actually hired Schiano they would have had nonstop coverage of the Washington Post story. They would have probably had countless interviews with Mike McQueary, who gave the deposition testimony. For those claiming McQueary wasn't credible, a jury who heard him testify begs to differ as they awarded him $ 7.3 million in his whistleblower case against Penn State. But since Schiano will continue to work with the Buckeyes, they will defend him and act as if the testimony doesn't exist. Unbelievable.

Yes. You are correct.

One man testified under penalty of perjury. The accused refused to refute the story under oath. He has also refused to sue.

By the way, the author of the Medialite opinion piece is a part of a group seeking to restore the reputation of Joe Paterno. Not necessarily an unbiased source.

If Schiano was wrongfully accused, then he should've given his side of the story under sworn oath as McQueary did.

Why did he fail to do so?

I don't know. Maybe because he was 25 yrs old and just starting his coaching career at the time? Face it. Most people on here had no idea he was even on the staff at Penn State when this all went down. The fact is that the Coach everyone has been clamoring over and making a freaking mockery out of the University over is not coming to Tennessee and they have simply latched onto the first negative thing to lash out about. He may not be the right fit, but this idea of moral outrage for something 98% of the people on here knew nothing about is absurd.

The PSU stuff is just the icing on the cake - even without it he's not a great hire but likely it would have stood without the PSU doubt.

We live in an era where accusers are to believed (right or wrong). The PSU scandal is absolutely a horror story. There's simply no way it makes sense to take a shot on a guy with a "meh" record given the doubts about his role.

His reputation from the NFL is problematic.

OSU is 6th in the Big 10 in defense (hardly killing it as a D-coordinator).

Guilty or not this isn't a criminal conviction - it's the court of public opinion and given the current environment this is the dumbest hiring move I can recall.

It's not the fans job to know about it, that's on Currie. Schiano was more than old enough to fight back against any claims involving him when they came out as well. If Currie had any common sense he would've done his job right and avoided any coaches with a questionable past. Fans would've been mad with a Dooley type hire but nothing like what just went down.

Even without the psu stuff his record and history as a coach is below lackluster. He had zero business even getting an interview or even mention, let all be being offered the job.
