What's the Todd Kelly, Jr story?

Guys... I love TKjr but he’s going into his senior year and he still hasn’t made a memorable play. Not that I recall. He’s an average player and wouldn’t start on most SEC teams.

Here are several of the many memorable plays he's made. I'm kind of partial to both of his interceptions of Baker Mayfield passes in the same game, intercepting Trevor Knight at TA&M, Shurmur at Vandy, and Florida, although you'll see several more interceptions including two in at least one game, the tough blitz sack, the forced fumble, solid tackling, stifling coverage, and pass breakups on 3rd down that forced offenses to punt. As a leader by example, he often made clutch big plays like that game-saving interception he made to beat Florida in 2016. I'm surprised you don't remember it.

Here's a video to help jog your memory back up to speed at a pace more in rhythm with the facts.

I know he’s made a few INTs but the only one I truly remember is one he should’ve returned for 6 but fell down making the catch. I don’t remember any great plays, but I’ll watch the highlights.

Edit: He’s made more than I remember. That UGA pick as a freshman was a great play. The Vandy pick on the sideline and the one in the red zone were also good plays.

Shoulda bulked up and played LB like Cortez Mcdowell. Been expecting him to do that the past two years but it never happened.

He's done it all. Interceptions, Sacks, Pass break ups, tackles, forced fumbles, etc. Yeah, that's why I shared that one with you. I think you might be surprised. That was just the first video of his highlights I found but I saw there are more.

Some of the opinions since yesterday....
Jennings is barely average and will not see the field again.
Kirkland is out for good
Kelly is not a good fit
Just 13 days until we have something real to talk about.

TK JR is a baller and will play plenty this year. To me he was hampered the past two seasons with nagging injuries. So far all of the reports this year state he is fully healthy and looks quicker. It is hard to keep a ballhawk like him off the field.

Lack of speed at safety has been a big problem. Warrior has speed but others struggle. These “gash” plays given up by D are perfect example of this.

Indeed and when your out of position a receiver or running back can make you look much slower than you actually are, but
Last year the tackling in the secondary was very poor, save for Warrior and Gauldin

Thank the Lord. I am tired of speculations and rumors. Looking forward to the season starting.

It wasn't long ago that people on here were clamoring for Kelly to be on the field instead of Brian Randolph because Randolph was "too slow." Randolph showed that everyone was wrong about his lack of speed at our pro day. More importantly, straight line speed isn't particularly important at safety. Kelly, like many others, seemed to regress under the previous coaching staff. He clearly has a nose for the ball, so we can only hope that this staff gets the most out of him.

He’s a high IQ football player for sure. He always looks to me to be too slow to play the safety spot but For red zone defense or in the box situations I think he can really help in spots. As far as tackling out in space and covering slot guys/playing high safety I don’t see it.

His dad also grew up rough and had a killer mentality. Tkjr grew up rich at Webb and played lesser competition in hs. He’s a soft spoken great kid who’s going to be a doctor and probably be really successful. To play safety for Pruitt you have to have quick feet, play fast and try to take peoples head off a Over the middle and tackle in space.
