What's the Todd Kelly, Jr story?

A player who has a nose for the ball, good instincts within the system, who can get himself positioned well pre snap can be a little slow especially if he’s a good fundamental tackler and/or ball hawk and still be really effective.
If he was that damn good, he would have started the every second he could. He didnt. He was inconsistent at best.

<blue font> He played his high school football in East Tennessee which means he's an AA, got it. If he's not on the field it's due to a coaching staff overlook or issue. I read this same sort of thing in another thread yesterday promoting Josh Malone as our go to WR during his time on The Hill.

How does a saftey with solid zone coverage skills that can lay a lick not fit into a 3-4, 4-3, 3-3-5, 5-2, or any other defense?

I think Pruitt and staff are looking for more speed at the safety position and you really can't blame them, can you?

Go Vols

When the book comes out, I want a hardback copy. However, I will still want a copy of the movie too if they get somebody good to play him.

He’s slow

So was Larry Bird who couldn’t jump either. Ask everyone he played with and against who was the best player!

TKJ will be on the field in some capacity because he can flat out play.

Also tells me the safety position is pretty good if we’re having this conversation.

Some of the opinions since yesterday....
Jennings is barely average and will not see the field again.
Kirkland is out for good
Kelly is not a good fit
Just 13 days until we have something real to talk about.

TKJr. is not slow. What a stupid statement. So many insiders and experts on here.
If you can have that opinion, then others can have theirs. One opinion is not right. I hope he proves all of us naysayers wrong. Regardless of what I think, doesn't make a hill of beans if he plays good this year.

I was hoping we may see him put on a little weight and get some time at linebacker, similar to the way a couple of safeties in the NFL have moved down to a hybrid linebacker. Similar to Mark Barron, I think the Arizona Cardinals were doing it as well.

Lack of speed at safety has been a big problem. Warrior has speed but others struggle. These “gash” plays given up by D are perfect example of this.

TKJR is ridiculously slow for a safety. More like a 4.7-4.8. I thought they would’ve had him put on weight and make him a LB. He has 0 future at safety.

Guys... I love TKjr but he’s going into his senior year and he still hasn’t made a memorable play. Not that I recall. He’s an average player and wouldn’t start on most SEC teams.

Doug Matthews said he doesn't fit into the system last Sunday. How does he go from considering the draft to not playing? Any word?

GO VOLS!!!
I could consider the draft too, but I ain’t ever getting drafted, just like TKJr. From what I’ve heard/read, he’s simply not athletic enough to play ahead of other younger, more physically talented players who have leapfrogged him. He always played with intelligence and moxie, but at some point, a top flight SEC DB just has to be more athletic than TKJr is. Just the truth imo.

Malone was absolutely our go-to WR in 2016.

Malone was absolutely our go-to WR in 2016. Led us in catches, yards, yards per catch and touchdowns.
