How in the hell would you know. They let media watch like 8 minutes of practice.

But the previous 3 years tell me he is running with a trolling motor at times.

Some GREAT players just don't fit certain schemes. Derrick Barnett was an amazing DEnd, (in a 4-3) but he probably would not fit that well in a 3-4

That is what I liked about him in his first year... he had some key ints and could put a lick on you. With injuries and poor coaching I think he faded some. But man I want him to show the fans something great this year. He is capable.

But this is "practice". When the lights come on i think Kelly will finish strong

They probably would have bulked him up and had him play the DE position in the 3-4

I wasn't going to bother with it but you're right. You don't have to be on the track team if you know your job, can find the ball, can lockdown in zone coverage, and can tackle. You can play the position with 4.5 speed. Sure faster is better if those same skills are there but 4.4 is not required to be a player at safety. When healthy Kelly has played well.

Yes a 4.58 has been slowest time that I recall seeing anyone timing him at and 4.48 being the fastest, which is bogus IMO. Have proof he didn't or is it your eye test?

A player who has a nose for the ball, good instincts within the system, who can get himself positioned well pre snap can be a little slow especially if he’s a good fundamental tackler and/or ball hawk and still be really effective.
