The Problem is Five Fold and there is enough to go around for all..

Five contributors to where we are today. Hamilton, The NCAA, Cheek, Hart, and Pearl.

Hamilton - Money and Greed. Most Cost effective and bargin Hire. Did not challenge the NCAA regarding Pearl's Show Cause.

The NCAA - inconsistency in punishment, not fair and equal across the board, to much time for the crime and they cannot investigate anything unless it is handed to them on a silver platter.

Cheek - Academic Standards, wants to be the Florida and Stanford's of the NCAA. Money pulled from AD and is happy with Mediocrity. Really has no clue. Evidently Micro Managing the AD Department. He has had two ADs and they are following the same Modus Operandi. Thank God we did not land Strong. Why was he even on the plane to Louisville. Cheek is trying to control something he cares nothing about and has zero experience. Not willing to pay the funding to secure a good any quality coach. Cheek Would probably let Football and Basketball die if he could. To him it is like a burden to have to deal with it. Provides Little Support until there are headlines. Directed lawyers not to give Pearl a head's up regarding the picture. In essence Hart Allowed and contributed to the entrapment of Pearl.

Hart - Based on what he inherited, has been indecisive and by doing often is a go along type AD to Cheek. Allowed Money to move out of the AD Coffers without objecting. Puppet type and allows his hands to be tied. We would have been better off than now with Fulmer as AD. He is Tennessee and has Tennessee in his best interest. Also, there would be no power struggle as Hamilton and Hart experience with Cheek.

Pearl - Go figure. First team that comes along he accepts the job. Really. This is no different than a girl that chases shinny objects. He Did not hesitate one second to throw Tennessee under the bus. He could have waited enjoyed and worked the Tournament see how it played out and then announced but he was not willing to sit tight. Pearl could care less about fixing this situation at UTK, even though he contributed to it. A lot thought he would come back to fix what he had broke. Get over Pearl because he could care less. His resignation cry was more like a kid getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

If you are upset don't just Email Hart, make sure you also Email Cheek, and if you are really pissed by the way that this has happened the email the BOT (to include the Governor) include Pearl if you want but the main emphasis should be on how the AD is being ran and ruined by the Higher ups.

Not stating we are entitled to anything, but I am stating that our tax payer dollars are being mismanaged through/by the Incompetency that have the responsibility of mismanagement.

At any level in the Public school system, the Administrators are usually the worst at money or project management. Cheek cannot handle the job.

If you took the time to sign the "Bring back Bruce" petition...
Spread the word, go forth from here... get the word to those who signed. Use this power of 36,000+ fans to ........ Get Dave Hart fired. Get Jimmy Cheek fired. Run "big" Jim Haslem on off. Stay together. We are 36,000+ strong, and they ignored us!!! Let's make them pay. Let's get new blood in there who know how to run a school/athletic program. Don't fade away now, we need you now more than ever!!! Spread the word!

Changing ADs will not fix this as long as Cheek is his supervisor. The Only AD that could have handled this was Fulmer with Cheek being here. All a new AD is going to do is fall back under Cheek who is the real problem.

OP-Hard to blame Pearl for jumping on $14.7 MILLION. I doubt many former coaches out of the business 3+years would "wait."

It's going to take a while for everyone that loves Pearl to realize that Pearl only loves himself. He could careless about us, our fan base, our tradition, etc...we were just a job to him that paid him a huge salary and buyout. I wanted him back, but that's before he showed his true colors. Just glad to get Tony Jones and Steven Pearl out of Knoxville and I don't even live there. Stevie boy is going to live off his daddy. Crazy how you can graduate and play at a school and you say "War D*** Eagle" just like that. We didn't want you as a Vol anyways. You took away from Maymon and didn't even deserve it you douche.

While I appreciate your post, the truth is that neither you, I, nor 97% of this board knows what is really going on in the University and Athletic Department bureaucracy. We can pretend we know and speculate, but the truth is we don't know what Hamilton or Hart are having to deal with as AD's or what Cheek is "trying" to do (to be honest, I wouldn't mind being as successful in athletics and academics as Florida or Stanford...).

Also, the whole "grow some balls" attitude with the AD is easier said than done. How many of us can just walk into our bosses offices and tell them how to run their business (i.e. Hamilton/Hart walking into Cheek's office)?

I always remind myself that AD's, Coaches, University Presidents have got a lot more invested in these situations than I do and they aren't going to screw things up on purpose.

I agree and fall into the same boat. As far as Stevie, the Acorn Does Not Fall Far from the Tree.

How could you possibly know that??? Fulmer might turn out to be a terrible Athletic Director. Yes, he is a Tennessee guy and a really good football coach, but he might suck out loud as an AD. And, as much as you think that Fulmer would tell Cheek to stuff it and do his own thing, I wouldn't be so sure of that...again, its easier said than done IMO :hi:

Mediocrity is where we are and it is so unnecessary. Cheeks could care less. He is secretly rubbing his little stuffed animal gator and laughing as UT sports fans are fuming and crying. There is no reason why we should not be good at BB. None whatsoever.

First, There is someone on this board that knows.

Second, you are right no body is going to screw this up on purpose, but there are always people in their positions that are on their own agendas and/or in over their heads.

Third, there are enough incidents and enough reasoning to know that there is a major Clog in the wheel.

Fourth, people have a tendency to work from the bottom up versus working the Problem from the top down.

This is the reason the CBP post, rants etc.. should stop. The players have enough on their shoulders that they don't need the BS about the coaching situation. This should if it hasn't already given the fans a true feeling about Conzo leadership of the team. The last questions for the players was do you want to comment on the hiring of CBP at Auburn, every player dropped their head as if to say REALLY.

Be done with it, CBP will make his bed at Auburn and you can BOOK IT that. He is a NOT the person most of you think you know and it will show in time. OP is trying to point out some of he interesting time line hiring of CBP to the BLIND VFL' on this board.

Hart has possibly made 2 home run hires with Butch and Serrano. I can only hope he does the same for BB. Unfortunately, I believe he gives Cuonzo another year before he makes a move. And the way it looks, next year will not be a resume enhancement for Cuonzo.

Hart did not hire Serrano. He's made one hire in his time at UT. That's it.

Cheek had the authority to look at Fulmer when Hamilton was let go, and chose not to do so. I don't know if Fulmer would have been a great or bad AD, but I do know he would have done everything in his best interest for Tennessee and would not have had to deal with Cheek as much.

So much in the OP's rant to dispute...but so little time.

Right off the top - our tax dollars are not being mismanaged on UT athletics, because the athletic department is a self-supporting entity.

I cannot think that Dave Hart cares any less about the interests of TN than Phil Fulmer, because at the end of the day its their very high paying jobs to do what's in the best interest of TN athletics. Fulmer cares a great deal about TN, but I don't think he would be working any harder than Dave Hart is right now.

Also, how do you know that he wouldn't have had to deal with Cheek as much?? There is a chain of command in place and as much as it might suck or be broken currently it still has to be followed.

As much as people want the AD to go rogue it can't and won't happen....

One of My concerns is the seemingly disregard of our administration to the fact that UT Sports also drives the local economy. Auburn seems to understand that success is driven by success. We seem to worry with making it hard on ourselves through academic standards, mediocre hires, etc...while I want our institution to be academically sound, I understand what writes the checks! Until we get people at the top to think this way we will be destined to mediocrity

I don't blame Pearl at all for taking the job. UT would never pay that for a basketball coach so it's a wash. I have let go with the Pearl thing.

The only thing Pearl proved is that UT BB can be relevant with the right coach, the problem is do we have the right President, AD, and BOT that are willing to make the effort and pay the money to hire one when it comes time.

Pearl is gone and is off the Grid. He, the fans and the University got shafted by the NCAA, but our mess is self inflicted by all listed above due to incompetency.
