I had a heated debate with some idiots who feel they honestly could coach UT or any major program because they were coaches a the lower levels. So I wanted to ask can somebody explain the differences. People out here think the honestly can walk off they street and be a coach.

Depends of how good of coach they are. Vince Lombardi started out coaching high school.

On top of everything mentioned, the schemes r obviously a million times more advanced... Vince Lombardi probably couldn't coach college ball these days and be successful... Things r way advanced.. And they advance more abd more every 5-10 yrs.. U hear it all the time from retired players/coaches.. The college/pro game is on a diff level.. I've played/coached several levels and I can attest to it.

On every level, it's a totally different game... Even within the last 10 years, it's different on every level... Seems like the passing game is getting more and more popular, which is making most defenses adapt..

Just look at CPF.

Game passed him by completely. Had no clue what he was doing past 2002.

He was great for a decade but couldn't adjust.

That and you are dealing with alot of kids who would be in jail (and still might be at some point) if it wasnt for their game skills and people who cover up for them.

And thread is a bonfire in t minus 3 ... 2...

Well, I can think of quite a few things.

- College coaches don't have parents yelling that their boy should get mor...never mind. I'm looking at you, Craig James. Craig James Killed 5 Hookers While At SMU in case you didn't know.
- College coaches can offer the players they're trying to recruit sluts and beer instead of pizza and soft drinks.
- College coaches don't have moms going into the locker room at halftime and offering their players the gummy snacks that look like dinosaurs.
- College coaches don't stop every 15 minutes because one of their players has accidentally urinated on himself.

UT: "Hey coach, why do you think you are qualified for the HC position at the University of TN?'
Coach: "Because I coach my son's pee wee team...you should see us play. I have some film right here. We were undefeated 3 years in a row and our defense didn't allow more than 7 points per game during those years, while our offense averaged 41.4 points per game during that span. 25 of the kids on that roster made it to the next level to play middle school ball, and 18 made it all the way to the high school level. Just look at this play here. We had the QB hand it off to the RB and he ran in circles 4 times before cutting it up the field for a TD...isn't that a genius play?"

KingNick865 knows for a fact that Craig James murdered 5 prostitutes but somehow this information escaped the entire Dallas police department. LOL.....love the off-season.

This. My 6 yr old nephew told his coach they needed more than 3 plays.

Who would think that the guy running the corner store could step in and run Walmart?

Head college football coaches are more of a CEO. There is a reason why they have so many assistants. Most people don't have what it takes to be a CEO, and most people don't have what it takes to be a head college football coach. Plain and simple.
