What's it going to take to beat Bama?

Also, Dabo won't be the coach at Alabama. Fairly certain of that.

Even though Dabo spent 10 years at Bama as a player and as a coach? I think if Bama would pay more than Clemson (they would), Dabo would take the Bama job. In fact, I would go ahead and start using that against him on the recruiting trail.

Skill players and luck, I would say. Veteran defense. As much as people complain about the last 10 years, you can see where the score was within 5 points in 2015. Kiffin famously was within 2 points, and they were ranked #1 at that time. You have to be a little better than that or Alabama has to be a little worse than that. And that's assuming Saban is still there. When he retires, who knows? More importantly, some of their bagmen might die off.

Move SEC offices out of B’ham, reign in their bagmen, make a commitment to winning a priority at UT, and stop bargain hunting head coaches.
Lol, Ok big fella. You don’t need the SEC Office or bagmen when you hire a coach that was already considered one of the best college coaches in the business, before he was hired. If you want to know Bama’s secret to winning(which is obvious to most people) its this. Our first two classes were because of two reasons.

A. The state of Alabama was loaded in 07-08, with studs that were probably going to Alabama regardless of the coach and,

B. The Saban Affect, simply put, we pulled in many recruits those two years for that reason alone.

The recruiting classes after that should be obvious. Saban is a relentless recruiter, National Titles galore and winning, Plus Top flight facilities. Also the shear numbers of bodies Saban puts in the NFL is insane.

So those, not secret bagmen or conspiracy theories about the SEC offices being in B-ham, are why Alabama wins. Suggesting that other stuff makes you look petty and jealous.

On defense
1. I would’ve bring 9 guys on every play
2. Stacked the box on every play.
3. Had my defense just to gang tackle every play.
Offense
1. Throw the ball every other down.
2. Not ran it on third down
3. Reverses, flea flickers, Hitchie pitch every other down. Ran statues, double passes, lined up weird on the offensive line. Split in weird formations, gone for two every time.
Oh well, if that didn’t work, then at least I tried.

A big influx of cash, I'm afraid. Which of course is the "Elephant" in the room.

Hope reigns eternal. But teams that recruit at no. 1 or near the top every single year are simply flooded with monsters who are bigger, faster, stronger. The only chance to compete on a routine basis seems to be teams with "generational" QBs like Johnny Manziel or Trevor Lawrence. And occasionally when they get beat in shootouts coached by teams with an offensive mastermind like Freeze.

It is crazy that the only way to beat these teams is to go all Pac-12 and score a bunch of points w/a mobile QB that is a true game changer. We had that w/Dobbs but, unfortunately, didn't have a competent staff to maximize his talent......

Yes. Even though all that. I work directly with a former head coach (golf) from Clemson who talks with Dabo frequently. I've even seen texts. I've asked him about this and my colleague has said that maybe 5 years ago, Dabo would've done it, but no reason to now. Money isn't the issue. It's all about what he's built there at Clemson and he's got no desire to leave. That's what all the signs point to from what I know, but that's the extent of my "cool story bro" moment. However, what a man actually does when the circumstances present themselves is anyone's guess. But that's how I see it at this point.

Answer: 40+ points.

Bama's last 3 losses were Clemson, Auburn, and LSU. Clemson scored 44, Aub scored 48, LSU scored 46. That is all of Bama's losses since Nov 25, 2017.

In our last three games against Bama we've given up 41 (48 final score included a defensive TD) and 35.

So we need to build an offence that will score 40+ per game. Anything less won't get it done because Bama scores 40+ on EVERYONE.
A coaching staff that has previous HC coaching experience and that coaches to actually win not to just keep it close and hope for the best.
