Is how remarkably impressed I've been of Mychal Rivera this year. He was a questionable signing 2 years ago, but he has continued to impress me by how he handles himself on and off the field. And that 4th and 17 catch (at the time) was one of the most clutch plays I've seen by a UT player in a long time...

Mychal played well. I was impressed as well. But he needs to take his sister to task for wearing an auburn t-shirt in her FHM spread. :p

I was impressed with him. I was wondering all week who would step up and be a threat. I did not expect Rivera. Look for LSU to try and take him away. Who steps up then?

Excited for the opportunities injuries open up in the offense. Arnett and Rivera gonna get some good PT.

Another "Moral Victory" that has been lost was that Devrin Young had 108 return yards, been a long time since a stat like that! This kid is going to be fun to watch!

I think it is quite funny how some people are reacting. A staff that is forced to consistently rely on sophomores and freshman is being trashed for losses to UGA and Florida, who have established depth at almost all positions.

What must Florida State fans think? They have great depth at every position, and they still lose to teams like Wake Forest. You guys are killin' me.

Don't confuse our fellow "the-sky-is-falling" Vol fans with facts. :):):)

Great question but its not just about an individual. To "take away" the TE as a threat means you have to keep a safety or a lb inside which helps on the draw and the outside passing game.

Both of these options would be good, except our run game is not up to par with the league and our outside passing game requires quick throws which Simms has not proved he can do. Maybe this weeks practices will improve these, but LSU's defense right now is way faster than what I have seen us be able to do. The offensive game plan should be interesting this week. The defense I think will hold their own if we eliminate the big yardage plays.

Agreed. And while Brendan Downs isn't quite as talented as Rivera (IMO), he's not exactly "incapable" either. Given the chance, I believe he would step up.

Without a critical drop and maybe two earlier in the game... that "clutch" catch would not have been necessary. He is "serviceable" but I am certainly not in the "remarkably impressed" category. He has way too many drops.... more than Z Rogers who is rightly getting pounded right now.

Oh I agree. It always helps to have a te who can catch the ball but lsu will be able to lock down man to man on the outside and cover the te much better than most teams.

you mean to tell me that Rivera's drops in the game (which I don't even remember) are the reason why we wound up 4th and 17th down by 14? That's a helluva leap
