What's Dooley's contract look like?

Has anyone heard what UT is paying DOOLEY to coach the Vols? I hope his total compensation isn't more than 1.5 million/year. I am not sure DOOLEY has proven he is worth that much yet.

Gunner

1.5 mil was posted on volquest, but I don't know if that was accurate or not.

2.4 per? Are you kidding me? Good God I need to get into coaching. How in hell does Dooley deserve 2.4 per? Maybe, just maybe, he should earn this money instead of it just being handed to him. Tell me that isn't the right number...

This is hard to swallow for a HC with a losing record.
There had to be another coach out there that has a winning record willing to come to UT for 2m/year.

I am very disappointed with this hire, I hope he gets a big time DC to come here.

GO VOLS!

he is on the staff, CLT

Does anybody know if there will be an out clause in Dooley's contract to keep him from pulling a Kiffy and going some place like UGA?

Volfan8282 - hey hot shot how many coaches turned down this Tennessee job? In case you forgot the answer is 5 and counting; you should be thankful that some one finally accepted the position. It's obvious you're not the sharpest pencil in the box.

The irony here is unreal.

Excuse me for expecting better for a historically top 10 program in the country. I'm pulling for him. Hope he does great.

I agree with us being a top 10,but man the timing was just horrible as far as us landing a big name coach.

Totally agree. The circumstances blow. I just can't believe this is happening.

you would ask $85,000 for a totaled '68 Camaro with no motor wouldn't you

Look, I'm pulling for the guy. I really am. People here might compare his inexperience to Kiffin, but, the main reason I was more on board with Kiffin was b/c of his staff mostly. We'll see who he brings in. Kiffin had an all-star staff to make up for some of his lacking as a head coach. I really hope this all works out for the best. I'm much happier with this than Cutcliffe.

It's been a nightmare that's for sure.I see nothing wrong with venting some anger, and I most certainly don't accuse someone of not being a true Vol fan because they disagree with the way MH handled the situation.

2.4 million per year!!! What the heck is Mike Hamilton thinking?

I like the guy, he seemed genuine during the news conference, and a pretty bright.

I think we will have a lot of pain for a few years.

But 2.4 million makes no sense at all financially.

Analyzing salaries for Football Bowl Subdivision coaches - USATODAY.com

tracts most of college coach salaries. Look at the big names. I mean he makes more money than all but 20 out of the 100 coaches in the conference!!!

He makes more than spurier, pellini, paterson, gundy, davis, Chizik, Nutt and Beamer plus a a few other PROVEN coaches.

That is a crazy figure, and Hamilton should be canned for shelling out that figure. That gives them less money than last year for assistant coaches.

I think in some ways it is an offer of good faith. It shows he coaching world that Tennessee is willing to offer a bit more to their coaches just because it's Tennessee. If he flames out people will know we offer a competitive salary.
