What's Al Wilson up to these days?

That was a joke, right? :crossfingers:

Why is that a joke? Just because he was a great player shouldn't give him a pass. We need coaches who will he effective teachers. Did we not just learn anything from CCS? Al Wilson may be one of those coaches but he hasn't shown anything to lead me to believe that he needs to be on the staff right now. Don't get me wrong, Al Wilson was a great player. Hopefully one day he will be back with the Vol Family.

It's kind of like hiring family per say. It's a sticky situation from the get go, and when it goes wrong, there are no winners in the whole situation.

Agreed 100%. People were so stoked when he was hired, now some are bashing him, which is sad. Remember he is a Vol. We really don't know what happened behind the scenes. We shouldn't bash on our own because it didn't work out

Playing and coaching are two very different things. That's why very few head coaches in any sport were great players themselves.

I agree, people should do a search back to 2-5-10 and see what was being said when he was hired. I realize we didn't know at the time how it would work out but a lot of people are acting like they knew all along he would be a failure.

Being a great player doesn't mean they'd be a great coach. Al is a player I'd to be given a chance somewhere if he wanted to get into coaching. And if he did want to I'm sure he would have gotten a shot somewhere already.

Being in the middle is kinda like being the qb of the defense, good leadership skills and the ability to read offenses comes with the territory of playing the position. If anyone who played defense in the pros could coach, you would think it would be MLB

Like Mike Singletary. :)

Just what a guy used to an NFL paycheck wants to do . . . go be a GA.

Yeah that's it. I'm sure he wouldn't want to do what he loves. Nothing to doo with a paycheck. I'm sure he's made enough don't you think.

I'm sure he could coach if given the chance. You really don't know if he would make a great coach or not. Same with any coach at any position. Just cause he used to be a pro doesn't mean he can't coach good. There's not many players out there who have even been given the chance to coach since owners only want someone with coaching experience.
