I was looking through the 2006 media guide and saw some players that I don't know what has happened to them. JaKouri Williams,Andre Mathis, Jared Hostetter, Ben Greene?????????

I think Mathis got moved to DE and is waiting his chance to shine.

Williams was a gunner on special teams. They gave him a look as a scat back early last year, but he couldn't consistenly catch the ball.

I remember when Ja'Kori Williams was recruited. For some reason I thought that guy was going to be good. Well........

I think Ben Greene graduated, he played well on special teams last year. Don't know what happened to Hostetter, may have transferred. Williams plays on special teams now.

Jared Hostetter quit, possibly before this season, I believe because of knee injuries.

Unfortunately, this is why I decided awhile back to stop wasting time following recruiting very closely.

I don't get it Vercingetorix. Williams is the only failure out of that bunch. There's still hope for Mathis, Hostetter was likely forced to quit after he had surgery in 2005 and was never the same, and Greene wasn't a scholarship player.

I don't mean these guys specifically; I just mean in general. Some of the guys don't qualify and never even show up on campus. Some of the highly regarded recruits are busts, while a decent number of unheralded guys turn out to be good players. Some players change positions. Etc. The disconnect between what a recruiting class looks like coming in and what it looks like going out is usually so huge that at some point I just decided to spend my time on other things. I want to have highly ranked recruiting classes every year, of course, but I don't really get excited about individual players anymore until I see them on the field.
