I swear that UT fans = Jilted girlfriends... Let it go ... He's gone. Took his dream job. We've got a new staff. Move on. It was a good move for Kiffin, and it was a good move for Dooley. It all works out. Good grief.

Depends on which Kiffin.

If it was Monte Kiffin, I'd shake his hand and tell him I wish he'd stayed in Knoxville.

If it was Lane Kiffin, I'd congratulate him on getting his dream job, but that what he did to the Tennessee program absolutely sucks, that we deserved better than that after supporting him, and I hope one day the Vols rip his team a new one.

If it were Layla Kiffin, I'd ask her why on earth she married an a**hole like Lane.

This isn't even about whether I hate Kiffin or not. To be honest, I don't like the guy either. Kinda just neutral on him. Again, "not hating Kiffin" doesn't mean "love Kiffin."

This is about you saying that you would "prison rape" his wife. It's fine if you want to jump on the hate Kiffin bandwagon, but why say that about his wife? It just adds fuel to the country's perception that Tennessee is full of inbreds. I'm starting to agree with them on you at least.

He did leave it in a better place from both a recruiting and product on the field standpoint. Most any decent coach could have improved the program from the ditch Fulmer left it in.

Yeah obviously turning away a top five qb last year was brilliant... since he brought in such a good one. Most important position on the team and he choked.

Yeah and not beating florida or bama losing to ucla and almost losing to KY is so much different that what we have seen.

Yeah getting blown out in a bowl game... yeah not being able to coach any special teams

The recruit he mouthed about the most is already gone

tell me how he left things better off than before? Other than recruiting 2 linemen? which was about it

It was in a better place until the second he announced that he was leaving and taking his two most important assistants with him. Dooley's done a pretty good job salvaging this recruiting class so far, but there's still going to be a hit, both this year and next. On defense, we've gone from John Chavis to NFL legend Monte Kiffin to.....somebody's linebackers coach, I guess. The point on the calendar at which he dumped us means that we had to roll the dice on a guy who had a sub-.500 record at LA Tech as our head coach. Before Kiffin announced his resignation, this was clearly a program on the rise, and one that could expect to compete for the SEC championship within a year or two, but now there are a pantload of questions everywhere.

I suppose the germane question is whether the program was better off on the day Kiffin announced his resignation than it was the day he was hired, and I'd still have to say no. He was hired immediately after the season when there were still other reasonably good choices available; he left us in mid-January when there was little doubt that we'd end up having to settle on a longshot to replace him. He burned up some of the value of the Tennessee brand. He aggressively kicked guys off the team, which was one thing when it was his own problem, but now it just puts the next guy in a real bind w/r/t the roster. Chavis was still on staff when Kiffin was hired, and now we've got nothing. We are worse off right now than we were when Fulmer was hauled off the field on November 29 last year. It looked like a quick rebuild then. It looks like a long project now.

I highly doubt Chavis would've stayed on board with any coach not named Fulmer after how that whole thing went down. I could be wrong, but I just didn't see him breaking that "allegiance" to Fulmer and remaining on board at UT if a coach other than Kiffin had wanted him to stay.
