What would you consider a disappointing season?

Assuming we stay relatively healthy, anything less than 9-3 is disappointing. The schedule is manageable and I think we’re at an important part of Heupel’s career where if he takes another bad loss on the road or we don’t play well and take one on the chin in Tuscaloosa or Gainesville the narrative about our road woes is going to get very loud. I don’t see us losing one at Starkville or Lexington, but it would go a long way if we go down and get one of the big ones. I think with a lot of the newness with our team it helps a great deal that we get UF the week before Thanksgiving.

While wins and losses are how we judge a season, it also has to do with who you beat and lose to. 9-3 or better would be a great season. 7-5 or worse would be bad, and 8-4 will be just okay. But to show progress as a program we need to beat Georgia and / or Alabama and Florida on the road.

6-6: I'm hibernating this whole winter.
7-5: Well, we really didn't know how good or bad our QB's would perform, did we?
8-4: Oh, OK, but I'm still a little ticked.
9-3: Expected this team to hit this mark.
10-2: I just knew we'd win one of GA, AL, or FL, and we'd take care of all our other business.
11-1: I'm feeling a bit light headed, and why are those trumpets playing?
12-0: Oh, I should have known this would be the beginning of the Apocalypse!

So given that 8-4 is the floor, anything less than that (in other words, 7-5 or below) would be a disappointment.

Given our history and resources, 8-4 in my humble opinion is the floor and base expectation every season. Anything less than that is a sign of trouble ahead.

I’ll handle losing to Syracuse or Florida gracefully, but not both.

Winning against UF in Gainesville is way more difficult than losing to Syracuse in a virtual home game. If we lose to the latter, we have some serious issues.

It depends. I could feel really good about 9-3, or it could look like a missed opportunity. I think 7-5 in any case is probably a disappointing season. There are scenarios where 8-4 or 9-3 is either pretty good or fairly disappointing. Of course if we go 10-2 and miss out on a playoff due to a loss at Kentucky or something, even that would be highly disappointing, but it’s unlikely we miss at 10-2.

6-6 would be disappointing. 7-5 is expected to be honest.

Not winning at least one of the big three rivals. I’m predicting 8-4 with losses to Bama, UF and UGA plus one boondoggle that Heupel seems to always manage. I just don’t know what the hell this staff was thinking in letting the Nico thing linger and not getting aggressive with offensive skill positions in the portal.
