Stephens getting credited for Briscoes interception got him pulled for the rest of the 1st half. (We all know it was an ignorant call from Fulmer.) But, I can't help but to believe that if he would have left Stephens in there that we would have done something that 1st half and maybe won the game. Let me know what you think.

I don't think we win the game, play calling is just horrible. But, I don't understand why he put Crompton in after the INT. I almost put my fist through the TV

There were some opportunities afforded to us between Crompton's horrible drives...I have to think that we would have gotten at least an extra TD during that period. I actually think it wouldn't have resulted in a win...but it would have been closer. It was a HORRIBLE decision, to say the least.

...as I said in the other thread...Crompton came in because Fulmer was keeping his word....to a fault. I can think of no other reason Crompton NEVER took his helmet off...over MULTIPLE games.

Thankfully TX/Tx Tech game was on by then. Just changed to ABC and watched real college football. Sigh - I remember the days when we used to be able to say that.

Since this season is pretty well lost do you guys think we will see BJ Coleman at any point? I mean I don't see what it could hurt maybe it could give us a spark.

I was watching the game and relaxing, thinking maybe, just maybe tennessee could put things together. Nick Stephens throws an interception and I am thinking, "Ok, we got to make that up, the game is still in reach just don't get ina panic." Then to my utter amazement...walking under center it is none other than Jonathan Crompton. the one and only. I grabbed my keys, put on a jacket, and the girl and I went and got a nice dinner and I didn't know the score until I got home. that is what Fulmer and Cormpton will do to you. It was almost freeing...first time in my life I ever, ever stopped watching a UT game once it started...hmmmm...except for in the 90's when we were up by 40 with about 2 minutes left.

Apparently he wasn't benched for the INT (which was actually Briscoe's fault) but because he "sulked" afterward and didn't run after the SC guy.

I used to scream and get wild. Funny story, tonight was the first game I have watched with my girlfriend since last season. After the interception she put on her "Oh S**t" face for a flying remote, me getting an inch away from the TV and chewing out someone, etc. and I just sat there and did some mannerisms similar to Steve Spurrier's (part my hair, shake my head, and look down). She really didn't know what the hell was going on.

I miss getting mad.

He wasn't sulking. He was working on his material for the next open mic comedy hour in Knoxville. He's all about the giggles baby.

....because obviously being disappointed after your first career INT is much, much worse than staring down your receiver on every throw and requiring 10 steamboats of protection on every throw. Ridiculous.

Can I use that in conversation? That's pretty funny.

Feel ya on that one. I used to only be able to watch TN games with the most diehard fans since I tend to get a little crazy during the games. Now I just laugh because I know something horrible is coming after the 1 good play out of every 100.

I was similarly disgusted when JC bobbleheaded his way into the game. My amazement turned to disgust when he rocketed the screen pass on his first throw, and multiplied with every bad read and waist-high pass he threw.

Never seen a QB have so many balls batted down as JC. I realize some of that is on the O-Line, but when JC stares down his target, it's not that difficult on the D-Line to swat it.

Clawson said he made the call. Fulmer allowed it.

Further proof that both need to be gone.

Our offense is just a mismatch against everyone else's defense.

It doesn't matter who plays or which plays are called, we don't have the talent to compete. And, that is the sad reality of it all.

Where are the WR's and O-linemen who makeTennessee football... Tennessee football?

Surf the channels on any Saturday... they're everywhere but at UT.

I understand , gone are the throwing hats at the TV, not being able to talk after the game from screaming... we all had high hope this season, as time goes on now, matters less and less everyweek.

Please point to one piece of evidence in his time under center that would make this a realistic possibility.

The timing--doing it after the int--is irrelevant. He had to change something, and that just gave him a reason. The offense under Stephens has been horrible, and is completely incapable of scoring enough points to overcome a double digit deficit. It may be just as bad (or worse) under Crompton, but at that point, it didn't matter; under those circumstances, doing something different is better if only because doing the same is insane.

Something had to change, and QB was an obvious candidate. It didn't work, but at least it was different than continuing on a path that makes a 14 point hole 100% impossible to overcome. When same is doomed to failure, you have to do something different, even if you don't have terribly high hopes it will work.

The word I heard was that Stephens had an attitude problem when he came off the field following the interception that led to his benching as much as anything else.
