Its a legitimate question. I think 7-5 and a bowl win would constitute progress. If we go 6-6 and lose a bowl game I think that would show zero progress. We need to beat an SEC team that we are underdogs to period. I'm hoping players like Maggitt and AJ Johnson while young can help get the defense off the field and create some turnovers we desperately need to beat more talented teams. If we upset Florida this could pave the way to 8-4and a New Years Day bowl game. Is anyone surprised that Hood is starting ahead of Maurice Couch? Maybe his injury is the reason hope his performance isn't.

I won't be confident in Dooley if UT doesn't win 8 regular season games.

Anything less than 7 regular season wins is a disappointment.

If we win 8, I may be a little overconfident in him for 2012.

let's not get ahead of ourselves here. we were 6-7 last year and all we did was become younger (more talented but still younger). 8 wins is not out of the question, but certainly not the benchmark

It's not really the benchmark, but it's what I need to see to be confident in Dooley's ability to win at UT.

7-5 with a win over an end-of-year Top 25 team (UGA or SC) would show progress, I think.

1) don't lose any ooc games or to Vandy/Kentucky.

2) play 4 competitive quarters against everyone else and let the chips fall where they may.

I think 7-5 regular season plus a bowl win for 8-5 shows about the minimum progress we should hope for. That's what we should have been last year, but we may have the SEC's toughest out of division schedule this year. If we go 8-5, I will feel pretty good about this year. If we end up 6-7 or 7-6, I still won't give up on this staff until 2012 is in the books. I just have a good feeling about the way Dooley & staff go about their business.

However, as the famous saying goes, "Never confuse activity with accomplishment. Results are what counts."

Win SEC East! As Dooley said youth is not an excuse.

That sounds reasonable, but that's still 6-6. I'd say that would be concerning going from year one to year two.

While the schedule got harder we need to see improvement. 7-5 would be acceptable, especially with a signature win. (UF/UA/LSU/SC)

The team needs to win at least 7 games. That being said they have got to show they have grown from a mental standpoint. When the breaks do not go their way way they have got to keep fighting. If we see this this year, 2012 could be special.

Beat Florida!
And at least seven wins, I think Dooley can coach, last year was the worst UT team in 2 decades and we really had eight wins, so surely we will get 7 in the regular season. Maybe another trip to Nashville?

8-4 and a January Bowl win. Plus we shock someone along the way.

is Alabama

all others are well within the margin of error

8-4 or bust

7-5 is an ok season if no catastrophic injuries occur..

6-6 sucks

Dooley is the man for the job.
