Here's a question to ponder. Say you really like the VOLS because you actually got a degree there and met your wife of nearly 35 years there back in the day, so how should you approach this upcoming game with Bama?

Watch and hope for the best?
Turn to another game?
Watch something else on Lifetime?
Clean up the house?
Cheer on the VOLS as if they can actually hear you miles away?
Go to Neyland to try and suit up to help them?

Homey the Clown said.....

“Oh, I see. You think I’ve been held down so long due to a conspiracy perpetrated on me by the man (NCAA, SEC, ESPN) that I’m going to degrade myself and admit defeat before the game has been played bowing down and humbling myself to bunch of Crimson Turd fans from Alabama.”

“I don’t think so. Honey don’t play that.”

In other words, you cheer like hell and believe until the game is over.

Doing the math OP...you are about my age. I've said for some time...there are MORE Tennessee Volunteer Football games BEHIND me, than in FRONT of me...

ENJOY EVERY TENNESSEE VOL FOOTBALL FALL SATURDAY...there are NOT that many left...(and this year we are ONLY guaranteed 10)

GBO!

I get busy on Saturdays, so a few years ago I began DVR'ing all games, even if I think I'll be home and free of distractions. Over time, I've found it very convenient to be able to pause the game if I have to step away for a few minutes. And if I begin watching the recording from the DVR about 20-30 minutes after kickoff, I can fast forward through the commercials and catch up to the live broadcast sometime in the second-half, which lets me skip through halftime.

I've also learned that it's a good way to selectively skim through the painful parts, which makes it a little less irritating to endure. I may wait until sometime after halftime this week, since I expect to have to do a lot of skimming.

However you want. Love for the University is beyond one game. From a fan perspective watch and hope for a gritty, tough performance to prove we are better than last week. Even in my prime I wouldn't help much on the field; may try to provide some h-h-h-h-h-h-igh qualit-t-t--t-ty H uh H20!

I’d say combine items 1 and 4. Put the game on the tv while you clean the house. That way, you don’t have to commit fully to watching us (most likely) get steamrolled and you get to earn some points with the wife.

Didn't attend UT but wish I could have. Die-hard Vol fan since I was born (68') so I'm going to watch every stinking game beginning to the end no matter the outcome. My first game was 85' when we beat Auburn and Bo Jackson, brother won tickets from Arby's. I couldn't believe the number of people in the stadium as I had only watched on TV. Been to many games since and will continue to go and take my kids.... and no we don't leave during the 3rd or 4th quarter if we happen to be behind. I know we are struggling and as fans, we cannot stand to lose especially knowing we have been a great team in the past and can again be a great team! I hate Bama and hope we can somehow pull out an upset this Saturday and get on the right track. If not I'll still be rooting on the Big Orange and hoping for the best the next game. Have a great rest of your week everyone and GBO!!!

A TRUE fan watches (or listens) to every single play whether winning or losing.

That then earns you the right for when things do turn around to tell all the fair weather fans where they can go (and to also superkick them there).

Last weekend I had to be out, so I recorded the game to watch later. I heard the beatdown score, so I didn't bother to watch. Alas, I have become a fair weather fan. I'm only watching replays of when we win or really come close to a really good opponent. Gives me a lot more time to do other things.

I lived through the 70’s, the Battle years, the early Major seasons and I have never felt this hopeless about my beloved Vols.
But the plus side is I don’t get upset anymore, I just expect us to suck and if we can sometimes finish third in the East, that’s been a great year.
