Seriously, I am asking. I have heard that many potential first round picks would opt out. I.e. Trevor Lawrence, etc.
Could early reporting freshmen play?
Would it push back the beginning of the scheduled 21' season? What months would it cover? April- August? March-July? Would we use the set 21' schedule? Or the use the SEC only schedule, put forth, recently?

The NFL has their draft set for April 29. If there is a spring season, there is the potential of the season running into mid draft. Could see a situation ie Trevor Lawrence where as soon as he's picked, he's done. Makes the season no more than an exhibition.

People keep saying Spring, but they really mean Spring semester. The B1G is just trying to cover their ass saying we’re gonna try and play in the Spring, while discussing a schedule that starts in January? All we’ve been hearing is that Covid is going to get worse w/ the Flu season, and last i checked all but 10 days of Winter are in January, Feb, and March. College Park is the southern most town in the Big Ten, unless they put in some sort of regional bubble and played in domes I don’t think playing at Noon in Lincoln, Iowa City or pretty much anywhere would be ideal. Imagine having a big recruiting weekend in Madison in February and you‘re hosting kids from the South or West Coast, that would go well. I think Spring football is a pipe dream and IMO I would sacrifice one season of football in order for the next Fall season not to be impacted. If we play in the Spring we won’t have a normal season until ’22.

If there's spring football Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, etc won't be playing at all. They are already top 3 picks, there is 0 reason for them to play.

Football in January and February, particularly in the B10's footprint, will be miserable. And brutal; I remember how much hitting the frozen ground can hurt. Like hitting concrete. You break bones that way. There's a reason we play the sport in the fall...it didn't just turn out that way by accident, heh.

Football in April and May will be too late. Nicky's right, it would be JV sport.

So there's that one month window where the weather isn't too brutal and the draft hasn't yet arrived. March. The month of March.

If you're into a 4-week season, go for it. Otherwise, B10's gonna find out just how dumb they really were.

Good job, SEC and ACC and B12. You done right.

Go Vols!

They're not going to play spring football, they have zero intentions on doing that. They're telling people what they want to hear. Plus it is extremely dangerous to play in spring and then turn around and play in the fall

There's just no way a spring season gets off the ground. If the SEC/ACC/Big XII succeed with the fall season, the Big Ten and Pac-12 will undoubtedly be desperate to play some spring football but the NFL isn't going to make any concessions for them and Fox/ESPN won't be sympathetic enough to shoehorn anything but the absolute biggest games into their winter television lineup. These conferences would end up cannibalizing their own basketball (plus hockey, for the Big Ten) product while competing against the NFL playoffs and SEC/ACC/Big XII basketball and, with the number of opt-outs for the upcoming draft, they'll just look ahead to the fall '21 season. If something goes awry and no collegiate football is played this fall, there's no way that the issues preventing the more cavalier conferences from playing will shore up in time to allow kickoff in January.

Not really relevant I know, but NC high school football just moved to a February kickoff to the season

That would work okay around Wilmington. Not all all around Asheville. Raleigh and everywhere else in between, depends on what kind of winter it is.

Spring football is a myth. What is going to happen between now and Spring to make the Covid19 hysteria dissapate enough to have a season? Just play football. If fans wanna come, then let them come. If they wanna wear masks, gloves or snorkels then let them wear them. Or not. 6 months in and it's time to stop shutting down our nation for a bad cold that's gone and going around. That or play all the games in Sweden or South Dakota where leadership is not beholden to forces of corruption and manipulation.

Lot of “It’s not safe yet” and “Who the hell is that guy?”

I'm a truck driver and I am seeing youth baseball fields packed. Why is normal life going on but college sports is being screwed with? I just saw a flea market that looked like free cheese day it was so crowded.

Because while we are in short supply of consistency and data based decisions , hypocrisy is as abundant as it’s ever been in this country.

I think you are mistaken. Those are probably protests or riots that your seeing. And of course completely safe.

Football in Spring of 2021 would mean no football in Fall of 2021. Too cold in Midwest. Governors would shut down states due to cold weather.

I read a article this morning where the Big 10 said they want to start in Jan and possibly use domes to play in.

"Several indoor facilities that could be used by the Big Ten are home to NFL teams. Those are: Indianapolis (Colts), Minneapolis (Vikings) and Detroit (Lions). Other possible facilities are in St. Louis and Syracuse. "

Revised Big Ten football season could begin in January
