What will it take to fire Butch Jones?

I was thinking that best time to fire Butch is with no AD in place. Hart can't make the decision but the Boosters can. Our Harbaugh or Saban is out there. Why waste another year? Butch will not have Vols winning a title next year either

Dave Hart is retiring.........

He is a short-timer and Butch was his hire.....

He is NOT going to make and change and there is no motivation for him to do so.......

This is a golden opportunity for the Trustees to hire the right AD fit who will care about Tennessee athletics wholeheartedly.


This new hire HAS to be the right guy for the program. NO MORE PEOPLE FROM ALABAMA, FLORIDA OR ANY OTHER VOL RIVAL.

No. we need someone big league who has been able to have access to big programs and administrations around the country that have a culture of paying big to get big.... Give me Charles Davis twiced on Sundays all day everyday.

No doubt. And frankly Hart should NOT do anything. Would not be right.

I think you're second part is, IMO, the most important: can we stop bringing in folks whose hearts are painted something other than orange?

Hart really shouldn't make a change as he's heading out the door. He doesn't want to saddle his successor with a last minute decision. A new AD means that all of our coaches are on notice, though. Whoever comes in, they have no vested interest in supporting coaches that aren't getting results.

It would take a few things.

He'd have to lose at least two more games. If he lost to Kentucky and Vandy in the same season, that would be pretty devastating. I don't even think Dooley did that, did he? This alone wouldn't get necessarily get him canned, but you'd have enough folks disgruntled that some organized efforts would begin to stir among the boosters.

After that, it comes down to timing. I think there'd have to be a big splash out there that all were VERY, VERY confident, if not certain, that they could land. They'd almost have to have an agreement in principle before they dropped the hatchet.

If the big splash was in hand, I think the boosters would scrape up the money to walk CBJ. I don't think they'd be on board if it was simply a "fire Butch and see who we can get" sort of situation. We're probably another year or two away from that.

He sure did a good job of beating the Gators so it's not surprising that you say that. Your defense could not stop us. They predicted that they would win. They were prepared. But you guys still lost pretty badly. It's funny because the play calling, plays etc were awesome that day. I see why you want Butch gone.

Here's an idea. Let's accept who we are....a mediocre 2nd tier SEC team. Let's not waste money on coaching and use those millions to upgrade facilities and have some cash reserves in case there's more Title IX lawsuits coming. We are who we thought we were!
