What will Dooley do with the remaining spot.

I asked James Wilhoit about how he would respond if Tennessee were to come knocking:

James Wilhoit: Thx for the kind words. I love the Vols and would be willing to help in anyway I can.

Been down this road before for those who pay attention and have any idea what happens in the program.

His wife will not leave Atlanta.

We are not making him D coordinator and paying a million a year.

Garner is not coming even if he is pissed at Grantham and Richt (rumor not fact).

Correct. Let's talk reality. Brown still in play?

Why would Tennessee hire James Wilhoit?

Why would Tennessee hire James Wilhoit?

We're talking hypotheticals, right? He's earning a reputation as a great kicking coach. He's been developing his own technical aspect of kicking and has been giving private instruction, and been hosting and working in camps. If there is anywhere on the field we need help at, it's behind the tee.

It has been rumored that Wilhoit could become a GA and work specificly with kickers and the punters. I have no idea if he would come as a GA though. This is pure speculation.

GA maybe but no chance you have a full time kicking coach.

You don't hire fulltime kicking coaches. That's a joke.

Hire a kicking coach. Don't hire a guy who can coach special teams in general, hire a guy or gal who can teach kicking techniques for kick offs, field goals and punting. CDD or any of the assistants can coach the STs but we need someone to take our young talented kickers and develop them into ice water in the veins type of never miss guys.

We need a new George Cafego./thread

Sure. I agree with that. But, you can't waste staff positions on a guy to only work with kickers. That was my point.

Correct. End of that discussion.

Is Brown still in play?

I am being ignored here and I don't like it! Lol

You've just eliminated yourself from this conversation then.

Are you slow?

You in this very thread talked about wanting Garner. That shows you have no idea what you are talking about. So do the many many threads where you have repeated absolute lies.

Do not pretend to know anything about Kippy.

Bruin,
Kippy is almost certainly not coming back. He said he would stay and help, and people were excited about it, then he got angry when he felt like he was not given enough consideration for HC. The change in AD would help with that situation, but the fact that he was telling everyone he should get that job when Memphis did not even want to hire him showed that he may view his skills and his opinions as having more value than a head coach would want from a WR coach.

Young guys who are hungry for better jobs in the future and who are willing to work 70 plus hours a week are the types of guys you should look for.

I doubt we ever have a Chuck Smith or a Charlie Baggett type hire again. The NFL requires less work than CFB and wealthy guys who have been there and done that have not worked out well at UT in Dooleys tenure.

Wilcox wanted Tosh Lupoi already once. When Tosh was reprimanded by the conference for having players fake injuries so they could rest it did not help his cause. Tosh would be a great hire but seems very unlikely.

Lance and Sirmon enjoy working with each other and both seem to finally have some talent to work with.

If another coach leaves for another position, that opens up room on defense I would not expect it to be either of them.

Gerald Brown not older brother. Was my question.

Has been a Special teams coordinator before. That's why I think he is still a realistic possibility.

JMO, but if we hire a full time special teams guy, I would think he ought to be someone who specializes in special teams. Not someone who has only coached special teams for 2 years.

He's not even talking about Kippy Brown. Again, you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

Just throwing this out there, utsports has now switched Hinshaw back to QB coach. Don't know if this means anything or not.
