What were Dooley's contract terms?

hahaha some of you are ridiculous. Already wondering who the next coach is going to be based on a 3-1 start. Yeah, so we we were tied with Akron at the half. In 1999 we were stacked with talent at home and beat Memphis in the last minute 17-16. That team went on to have a pretty decent record. We were all stoked for the Florida game and, I admit, got the wind knocked out of our sails in the second half. That's because Florida figured out our huge weakness on defense: speed at the corner. Hell, even Prentiss is slow for a SEC player, but he just finds ways to make up for it. Dooley recruited over that weakness with Gray and Bonner, but you can't throw freshman out at corner in the SEC. We're getting into the meat of our schedule at 3-1 and I feel we have a good shot at an upset. Why don't we judge Dooley at the end of the season, instead of overreacting over a few games?

i wish somebody would help me out here. i keep reading that firing dooley would damage recruiting. according to scout, the vols are currently no. 25 nationally. that ain't bad if you're middle tennessee or memphis. in the sec, we're no. 9. thank god there's 14 teams or we'd be in really deep doo-doo (or should i say deep dooley-dooley?) i need somebody to tell me how much worse we could be without orange pants.

That is what all this boils down to in the end. We will owe the man 5 million to walk away. We could give him 2 more years and lose another 15 games or more and still owe him 4 million. It's time to just deal with it and hire a new coach. There is no way in the world that 2 more seasons of losing does not justify paying the extra million now. As someone posted in another thread 25,000empty seats at 1 game is 1.25 million. Losing costs alot more than replacing coaches.

Can someone explain to me how UT makes $50 per head profit off me when I take my family of four to a game? I buy tickets that have already been sold, a couple of hotdogs for the kids, maybe 8 cokes/bottled waters, a coupe of t-shirts on the strip, park on in a public lot, eat on the strip...I'm thinking the University might make $30-$40 bucks total off of my family.

with no leverage, how did dooley get that huge buyout provision from UT??

Thank Lane Kiffin, the gift that keeps on giving. Hamilton was so scared about losing another coach he knee-jerked in the opposite direction and gave an unproven coach way too much of a buyout.

Regardless what some fail to realize is that UT stands to lose more money by letting the program flounder in mediocrity than they do to fund a buyout.

UT will lose at least $5M in revenue from decreased attendance and licensing sales if the team tanks this year. Sometimes you have to spend money to make it (ask Bama).

He's also an attorney that knew what he was getting himself into.

I think he was more like "If you don't like how I coach and can't accept the situation I'm getting into, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY ME TO GET RID OF ME!!"

That's why I say, with a decent season, he stays.
