What Was Your Most Heartbreaking Moment As A Sports Fan?

Tell us your most heartbreaking moment as a sports fan?

Mine has to be the Texas A&M double overtime loss in 2016.
Or
Florida in 99, first loss after winning the National championship.

Its been 30 years...but it’s one of those “etched in your memory” things. I can still “see“ it. October 1990, Neyland Stadium, UT vs. ‘Bama. Huge defensive struggle the whole game.

Seconds remaining. Tied 6-6. They’re unranked, we’re #3 in the country. We’re driving and get within field goal range. Only a few seconds on the clock. Victory is within our grasp. Bama blocks our potential game-winning field goal attempt and the ball rolls and bounces down to OUR 31 yard lime where they take possession...and promptly kick a field 48 yarder for the win with no time left. From a likely victory to utter, crushing defeat in just seconds. Found a quick synopsis of it online. Pasted here:

1990: Last-second field goal hands Alabama unlikely victory

Alabama was a wounded team when it headed to Knoxville on Oct. 20, 1990, having suffered numerous injuries to key offensive players and sporting a 2-3 record. Tennessee was 4-0-2 and ranked No. 3 in the country. Alabama somehow pulled off a 9-6 stunner, with Stacy Harrison blocking a last-minute field goal attempt by the Volunteers. The ball rolled far enough to set up a 48-yard field goal try by Philip Doyle, who nailed the kick and gave Gene Stallings' Crimson Tide one of the unlikeliest wins in the series.

I don't have heartbreaks over sports but the biggest fiasco (I guess because it was such a fluke) was the loss at Memphis. That was the worst display of football from the Vols I had seen in years. Of course, if we had replay... his knee was down yada yada yada....If that games played 50 more times the Vols win 50 times....

Being a Bucs fan the 1999 NFC Championship game hurts....Bert Emanuel caught that ball
2001 SEC title game.....Granted Miami would have won the National title but still how do we lose to Rohan Davey...like how
2000 the Jabar Gaffney "catch" like FML man
2013 Lady Vols lose to Louisville in the elite 8.....haven't been close to the final 4 since :rolleyes:

Hubert calling Gaffney's incompletion a touchdown. NOTHING else comes close. Although Mountain Cody blocking our FG attempt at Tuscaloosa where we were going for the win is my #2 but it ain't close to my #1.

2001 SECCG. We should have taken home a second NC, but football looked that day like bball did today again at the same opponent.

That last second "TD" dont remember could have been Caldwell, where it hit his hands and immediately knocked out, never had it long enough to be called possession 🤬 even the commentators believed the same thing.
