1) most likely Heupel wanted future opponents to see it to cut down pursuit
2) also Heupel probably pissed Simpson family didn’t give him a chance with Ty.

Somebody mentioned in another thread that it could have been a play for Hyatt to get revenge or whatever on whoever pissed him off the previous drive.

Or, it could’ve been just to make Hyatt feel good again. Hyatt was hot, but I really like how we pulled him out of the game to cool him off, and on the next series we go right to him. It shows we’ve always got his back.

I would think of it like a test run of a play he isn't comfortable using in a competitive game, and wanted to see if they could execute it.

I originally pondered it myself and then I said (wait) our brand now includes the most dynamic offense in the NCAA - we have certain offensive standards and yards per game to maintain - this in turn helps in recruiting - and it helps in our national rankings - so .....
not totally shocked but it was executed so beutifully, I would have liked to have seen it against Ky or Georgia rather than Martin.
