I never said what I was expected or I was disappointed. I had no expectation for the announcement. I was just talking about the fanbase in general.
Very poor PR? What do you know about PR? Actually, I don't know what you were expecting. I thought it was a cool announcement, and hearing from the players was a great touch.
You said butch messed this up. I bet those players feel different. And I don't know what the heck those fans expected. A 5 star to run out of the T? Gruden and Manning to agree to be on the coaching staff? Morons
I am glad you know me, what business I own and how we handle PR everyday. How about Butch not saying anything about an announcement unless it's something very important like a jersey retirement, new facilty upgrade, large donation, etc. I think year long captains are great for the team, just not worthy of promoting to the public as a big announcement. Most of the public doesnt grasp the importance of it.
I agree. You've got Steve Spurrier, Allen Iverson, and Gruden in the building, and TEAM CAPTAINS are the BIG announcement?!? And let's not forget about all the hype articles....
By Butch saying there was an announcement leaves it open to speculation so it better deliver. It didn't so it's on him not the people speculating. He decided to put it out there.

Butch is the one that messed this up saying there was going to be a big announcement. It's very important internally but shouldn't be promoted as a big announcement to fans. Very poor PR. They should have just announced it at the game and everyone would be congratulating them instead of this.
Butch see's this as a BIG DEAL. Just because fans don't doesn't mean he or the team don't see it has a huge event. and he realizes fans expectations are generally much higher than reality
Your last sentence says it exactly, don't leave it open for speculation. WBIR ran a picture with Peyton and special announcement. What are casual fans suppose to think? That's why you just announce it and then talk about the gravity afterward. I never said this isn't a big deal, I am simply talking about how most things that are left to speculation run wild.

People shouldn't be morons. Yes you are a moron if you though Peyton was going to be a coach. Yes you are a moron if you think Gruden or Spurrier were going to be involved. Could someone have announced their commitment today? Sure. Reasonable. Was what actually happened something special? Yes it was. Stop being a moron and you won't be disappointed over obvious crap. And it isn't Butch's fault when the media speculates. He wanted this to a big deal for those captains and it was.
