We found a QB tonight.

We were never going to win this game. That UGA team/program is like Clemson was 4 years ago. Very close. Our TRUE freshman very nearly led 3 scoring drives and put up a good amount of yards against one of the best defenses in College.

Our defense had some busts and missed tackles but they fought all game! Even Warrior. Keep in mind we've lost 8 players on defense that were set to contribute or start coming into 2019.

We improved tonight!

Had Young's guys (Morris, Wright, Maurer) out there getting baptized against the best. They'll be on the other side one day.

UGA was deeper and they may have better coaches overall.

But the the TN Vols improved tonight! Jarret Gaurantano for the first time showing he could be a pure teammate. Our defense had some stops tonight and gave our offense some chances.

Even with the departures this team is better now than when they lost to BYU.

We don't have the players to be competitive right now. Our D line is an Achilles Heel. There is only so much you can do without many players of SEC caliber. As long as we progress, that is about as much as we can hope for right now. We progressed tonight and our young players gained some valuable experience. Our coaching staff is not the problem, the previous coaching staff is the problem. It will take a while, but we will become prominent again. Go Vols!

I have seen this exact post every 2 or so years for the past decade.

I will agree with you. Also, let me say you called it and I gave you hard time about it. My bad.

Maurer played good to me. He showed some flashes of really good playing ability. The fact is, he is a true FR going up against what is said the be UGAs best defense in years. Its one of the best in the country. And Maurer threw 2 big TDs.

UGA is just much deeper and much, much more talented than we are. Its not Maurers, Pruitts or anyone elses fault. It just is what it is.

While the defense didnt play great, I think they did ok. I think most of us thought the score woukd be much, much worse.

We need to understand that there is only one other defense that compares to UGA left and thats Bama. So I do believe there is a possibility of us winning some more games than we originally thought.

I thought the offensive play calling was pretty good. Defensive play calling wasnt bad, but not good either. Too many missed tackles.

All in all, I was impressed.

Well then, please allow me to be a little more clear. Lane Kiffin flew the coup and the players left as well. Dooley couldn't recruit and when he got fired, even his players flew the coop. Along comes Butch who recruited some good players but didn't develop them and then turned them against him. They flew the coop. The coop is now bare except for what little Pruitt has brought in. They played great for true freshmen. The future is bright, even thoug hit sucks right now. It is what it is. I am a fan during the down times along with the good times. I support the team. This isn't politics, its UT football and there should be no political partisanship about who to support. Our team needs us right now. I say we give it to them in spades.

The team actually doing something in the 2nd half? Teams keep shutting the offense down and the D usually gives up a score immediately.

I think we agree, aside from the Bama game, Pruitt should have a winning record between now and the end of the year. If not, we should be concerned. Not saying I think he should be fired, but the seat needs to be pretty warm on Game 1 of the 2020 season.

We got beat, and we got beat worse than Vegas thought we would. I don’t understand why everyone is so happy. We got destroyed, we showed we could play with them, and then our coaches got out coached badly

I agree, just being competitive was a step in the right direction
But can you say we were competitive? 43-14 means something. Just because we led 14-10 after 20 minutes doesn't mean we were competitive. The end of the 2nd quarter was poorly coached and the 3rd quarter the defense was back to looking lost.

I expected a disaster and it was a disaster, the only positive was how much more inspired the team seemed with Mauer. UGA's staff made adjustments and avalanched us after that. Another bad loss in a string of bad losses. The Maurer stuff just makes me mad because it's abundantly clear his upside is and was way high than JGs and the inability of coaches to see what everyone else saw cost us at least 1 or 2 wins. Only say one or two because the coaches failed so badly in all areas vs Ga State that we may not have won that game with Manning at QB.

I think we were more competitive than any other game this season, I know the final score looks ugly but we played a half with them and that was alot more than I expected. There's more to a game then the final score especially when your out manned.

Maurer's two TD passes tonight were great. The first was a thing of beauty where the receiver caught it in full stride and kept on trucking to the end zone. The 2nd was even more impressive. He took the snap, dropped back two steps and threaded the needle with a rocket. A half second slower and no TD. I think we have a quarterback finally.

Defense didnt look lost. And yes, we were competitive. How many people do you think thought we would have a lead on UGA at ANY point? If you can find mire than 2 on here, then lets see them.

Nauseating to see TN reduced to calling a 30 point loss a moral victory. Couldn't cover the spread at home. Step in the right direction.

It's up for a debate when a program is officially dead. I think when the fans cheer the fact you didn't lose to a rival by more than 40 and call that a step in the right direction...thats a pretty good indicator.

lots of underdogs get an early lead before reality sets in. most people on here don't spend a lot of time discussing the score in the 1st quarter so I'll give you that. How many on here would have agreed that we could have lost by 4 touchdowns? probably a lot...
