With more confidence, a tighter knit team, a simpler offense that compliments the players, an aggressive coach, SOME experience (even though it was getting our butts whipped) on both the DL & OL, incredible young talent, improved DE's, many chips on shoulders, raw talent that is being coached by not one NFL former coach that has learned many things the hard way and that has coached at USC during its years of rebuilding AND success, but 2 former NFL coaches that have had success in the NFL (one of which that recruited the current OLE MISS team) and another that has coached at the NFL level as well as a Heisman candidate for a revived Purdue team (who has gone down hill since he left), a strength coach that has been a part of a winning system AND ERIC BERRY to the nth degree, we are going to be a completely different team. We will be faster, stronger, smarter and in better shape. I'm sure you could add to this list. But I think that's enough for people to not write us off. Especially our own pessimistic fans. I have to say, anybody that writes us off deserves an upset and I believe, most likely will have a lot more on their hands than expected and a lot more respect for what this coaching staff has, is and will be doing after playing us this year. GO VOLS!!! LET'S RIP THEM TO PIECES!!!

talk is cheap.

they need to show something.

this isn't meant to flame.....but, every year tennessee is going to be doing something that gets back to being where it once was.

others have said this and it's true, last year things like this were said.....

clawson is a breath of fresh air from the predictable offense of cutcliffe. no more 3 yard passes.

crompton will be an upgrade from eric ainge.

the goon squad is the best secondary in the country (right up until the 10th string ucla qb picked them apart in the 4th qtr)

it's time to show something. other teams are working hard. other teams have talent. other teams are well coached.

it's time to see it from tennessee, not just hear about it.

If you hadn't noticed gator, this is the offseason. Kinda hard to do anything about it right now but talk, but thanks for adding to the board....

There is some unknown with the OL and DL this year and the QB position is a worry, but I know this team will at least be in better shape and better disciplined than any team we have had in a good while. We don't have much depth, but for the most part I think our starters are a good group.

NFL guys coaching them is a plus. I just dont see this team doing any worse than 7-5 this year. 10-2 at the best. I think 8-4 would be adequate, and 9-3 would be a success. I just hope our WR's get healthy and stay healthy. Hopefully we can get some good contributions in the run game from our young guys.

I hate to agree with a gator, but he had some valid points. It is normal for us to be all revved up talking about a fresh new season, but hopefully we will show it on the field better than we did last year.

Energy is drawn off each other and that takes place on the field of play. Always has, always will. Hopefully, Coach Kiffin will run spirited, challenging practices. When guys sweat and bleed together, they become a unit.

At the end of the day, all the talk in the world ain't gonna help in the Swamp. They have to go out and prove it between the lines. Would love to see the Vols shock the world in Gainesville.

Like it or not, he has a point. Maybe Notre Dame will stink this year, Urban Crier will go there, and Andrew Hendrix will decommit and come to UT!

GOD, I love Florida fans ! The same trash that pissed on my mother's leg in the walk way at Neyland, after they lost because he was to drunk to find a stall. (I was 10 0r 11)
Like my Grand Father always said "Florida........ 100 yrs of football, 15 yrs of tradition".
Your time will come, and so will Ours, enjoy it while it lasts !
I cant wait to respond in a couple of years.

Unless your evicted from your campground lean-too, or if they move your "porta-potty/ House" from the area your currently living/squatting in, undoubtedly stealing your internet from the Trailer in the next lot.
Hopefully you live until then............ See Im not Hat ! or I would have simply said - "Go kill yourslf !" :clapping: Im chearing for you to make it !!!!!

Preseason reporting is 100% inflated hype. I don't think we're going to know the true character of this team until they play UCLA on Sept. 12. Last year's team was supposed to be an improvement from a team that lost an SEC title game, but the offense regressed so bad that Fulmer was ousted.

I'm pretty optimistic about Kiffin's future with the Vols, but a large amount of the players from the worst team in Tennessee's history are still here. Expecting any championships or huge upsets next season is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Hopefully, they can put together a nice season though. If I've learned anything from watching the Vols in recent years, it's that college football is unpredictable and preseason rankings are completely worthless.

What too many people fail to realize is the energy of the fans affects what goes on too! Always has. It's called, trickledownfanaticomics!!! You can read more about it on other posts!! :eek:lol:

Florida fans think the gators have their best team ever this year.
LSU fans think that Jordan Jefferson will lead them to the SECCG and that Chavis is an awesome defensive coordinator that is going to make their defense awesome again.
Georgia fans are so delusional, they actually think Cox will be better than Stafford...
Alabama fans think they have the best team in football this year.
Tennessee fans say stuff like this thread...

Just as a gerenal piece of advice, and I'm not saying anything bad about the Vols here, but you might want to try to lower your preseason expectations. It's a long way to fall if something goes wrong.

Just look at Florida fans. All it will take is one loss, and many of them will be on suicide watch.

That is not bad advice. There is a lot of football to be played, and there is no telling how this season is going to shake out. The Vols just need to win the games they are supposed to win and perhaps sneak up on GA or Ole Miss (or both).

If that happens maybe we can resume the preseason "crazy talk" like GA, LSU and Bama fans in the near future.

There is always a element of the unknown in college football. A team can come out of nowhere and surprise. We play in the SEC so it makes that less likely. We can predict all we want but we still really don't have anything more than a educated guess. Thats the excitement about it, everyone starts undefeated. They just need to take care of business in the first two games, then let the cards fall where they may.

Great post. I just want this team to compete all 4 quarters. I don't want to see any blow outs. I want to see intensity!
