The thing with Cody taking his helmet off doesn't bother me. If the shoe were on the other foot....

What really gets me ticked is both Nick Saban and Pat Forde (ESPN) saying Bama controlled the "Whole" game. Obviously Nick wasn't paying attention and Pat didn't watch the same game I did.

Sure Bama controlled their destiny in the final 3 or so minutes, but that's all they "controlled."

Up to that point it very easily should have been a 12-9 game. I don't consider that controlled.

UT lead in O yards and held Bama's O in check just as well as Bama's D did ours.

Both teams shot themselves in the red zone as well.

We played well enough that it shouldn't have come down to the last FG attempt.

Go back and watch the game again Nick and Pat. You'll see it was anyone's game depending on lucky breaks, which both teams got several.

He said the game was "under control" until 3 minutes left. Not "we had control of the whole game until 3 minutes left".
Don't try and make up something that wasn't there..

"Alabama led 12-10 but was on the verge of losing everything -- a game it had controlled, a season it had dominated, a national championship it coveted. Hated rival and major underdog Tennessee had arisen from the dead in the final 3½ minutes, and after a stunning sequence of events was a 44-yard field goal away from inflicting one of the most painful losses in Crimson Tide history" quote per Pat Forde, ESPN

"You talk about how fragile a season is," Tide coach Nick Saban said. "You're controlling a game, even though you may say it's winning ugly. We're still ahead 12-3 and totally controlling the game with 3 minutes, 29 seconds and the ball. That's how fragile a season can be. You make one mistake and you have to go overcome it. I hope that there's a lot of lessons our team can learn from this." Quote from Nick Saban on ESPN

Maybe you read those comments differently than I? I was referring to Pat's comment and Nick's first comment that I have put in bold.

I didn't make anything up.

This.

You guys can say what you want about how we're the classiest fanbase in the SEC, but we sure like taking people out of context when things don't go our way.

It's like the Tennessee Senate election from a few years back.

Please refer to my previous post. Maybe I misunderstood. That's just how I took the statements.

I guess I do need to correct myself. Saban never actually said they controlled the "whole" game. That's just how I read the quote.

Without the Ingram fumble, Bama would have put this one away 19-3.

OH MY GOD GUYS LOOK! SOMEONE DISCOVERED THE SECRET TO ATTAINING CLAIRVOYANCE!

Hey, can you tell me if the DOW will stay above 10,000? I need to know how my Philip Morris stocks will fare in the second quarter of 2010. While you're at it, put your crystal ball back in your purse and go hypothesize on a forum where people don't think you're a moron for saying Bama would magically run down the field in 2 minutes to score a touchdown as if they'd been doing that the whole game.

Either way, UT played a great game and Bama was lucky to come away with a win. Congrats and good luck the rest of the year..

Same to you.

I'll get flamed for this one:
FWIW, I hope you guys beat UF and win out. I couldn't stand to see CUM win another Nat'l Champ.

Alabama is a better team than we are.. I believe we outplayed/out coached them. I dont like CLK crying about penalties and headsets, he should have been crying about the status of our special teams!! Go VOLS!

Stop being so self-righteous.

Tommy was right - Saban said "You're controlling the game" and was referring to Alabama controlling the game. Go read any of the ESPN articles and you'll see it.

And to add my comment - what an idiot. They weren't controlling the game. Sure they were ahead the whole game but being ahead doesn't equate control.

So true:good!: I mean that is totally logical, considering Bama had been strolling down the field and into the endzone at will the entire game. And our defensive playmakers had nothing at all to do with that fumble, Ingram might as well have been running in the open field towards the endzone and just tossed the ball to the ground. "Heck, let's make this one interesting"

Do you know what self-righteousness is?

I absolutely hate it when people say "If x hadn't happened, y would have."

I'm thinking you quoted the wrong post, but yeah, saying that Bama would have scored a TD had that fumbled not occurred when they hadn't put together a 60 yard drive in the other 58 minutes of the game is stupid. You can't defend that.

I agree. I know as a Vol fan, I am supposed to hate Bama with a passion. But I cannot help it....I hate Florida a MILLION times more. My 14 year-old is a Gator fan and I have to see that chomp week in and week out, in addition to seeing them get every single call on the field go in their favor.

As bad as yesterday hurts, I hope Bama mops the floor with them.
