I can't take another post like this with links to North Texas forums. I have a herniated disc in my back and laughed so hard at the gifs page, I think it may have ruptured. Their "swing gate" defense is a very novel approach. I hope the UT fans will be super gracious host to the North Texas fans (if any come). At least offer to buy them a drink and hot dog at the game as payment for the entertainment they will provide.
Go Vols.
Given your current medical condition, approach the "Tennessee Look-A-Like Thread" (Tennessee Look-A-Like Thread - Mean Green Football - GoMeanGreen.com) with great caution.

I always feel bad for fans of teams like this. It has to be hard to root for a team that will never, ever have a chance to sniff real success and routinely trades money for a vicious beatdown. (If you see a NT fan, welcome them to Knoxville and be a courteous fan).

thanks...being a north texas fan isn't for the bandwagon jumpers...one winning season in 10 years...but at least it culminated with a bowl vicotry...don't expect much from the team saturday or the fans...won't be many there at all...more of your fans may accidentally wear green and make it look like more showed up...
the team isn't good...the recruiting hasn't been good...the development of the players hasn't been good...
as for the blowout loss to portland state, ya...crappy! the team straight up quit that day. word had leaked out that morning that macarney was going to be fired after the game and the players just didn't show up...
be gentle to our boys...don't beat them by too much...good kids...:good!:
Really thought that Todd Dodge was going to be the perfect fit. Being a Longhorn and dominating the state with that Southlake Carroll program, I assumed he'd have a network of Texas high school contacts and it would be an advantage in recruiting Texas 3 stars and developing them...kind of TCU lite...never took off. McCarney seemed to have found his niche...another mystery. Big puzzle wondering which route you guys should take for the next guy...I say Hail Mary for Cumbie.
dodge could recruit like the dickens, but brought his ENTIRE high school staff with him...they had no clue what to do in college. after the OU loss, 79-10...stoops knew exactly what plays were coming on offense and defense...they could have scored 100 easy, without even trying.
the one winning season in the last 10 years was made up by dodge recruits...macarney could coach them up a bit...but the dude lost it and he is gone. mac did have health problems, so that could have been part of the decline, but who knows.
I thought Dickey's bowl teams fit into that 10 year window?
Oklahoma was just a bad matchup...Pinkel at Mizzou actually incorporated a major portion of Dodge's spread after meeting with him before Chase Daniel enrolled. Mizzou's best Big 12 success came with that offense...but the Sooners always had their number.
dickeys last bowl was 04...wouldn't be surprised to see dodge get another shot as a coordinator or qb coach somewhere...he is back in high school coaching around austin.
nicholls state...the fighting colonels...somewhere in louisiana...one of the worst teams in fcs last year...
