What system does Clawson run?

Apprently a run-heavy version of the pro-style we currently run.

Welcome back to 1985.

that produces plenty of all-conf QB's so it's hard to really pin it down like that.

Fair enough.

But it was also an offense ranked 84th in passing in 1AA. His offense averaged 234.6 yard rushing and 170.8 passing. The stats definitely point to a run-heavy offense. Maybe he created all-conf QBs by keeping the pressure off of them? Maybe the conf was just weak?

I don't know.

I can say that I wasn't impressed watching them against Appy St., which is the extent of my familliarity with him. Moreso (speaking as an overall Fulmer supporter), I personally feel that if he is the hire, it is a major failure on Fulmer's part and most likely is a reflection of him wanting a yes-man over the offense.

But this is all stat-regurgitation (per the offense) and personal hunches (per Fulmer's motives) on my part. Time will tell.

His team ranked 84th in passing this yr because he didn't have to throw the ball.....His running back Tim Hightower set alot of school records...and the Quarterback Eric Ward is like a poor man's Armanti Edwards......the guy can Fly!!! Richmond ran an offense similar to West Virginia....but from what I hear Clawson has not always ran that style of offense....He just adapted to the talent he had........wow thats a concept for TN to consider!

You all act like if he got the job, he'd come in here and scrap our playbook. That's just not going to be the case. He might add a few wrinkles but overall, he'll be adapting our playbook and players.

Preferably one that does not include that "Armadillo" package that we have been using coming out the locker room after halftime.

Our coaches adapting to the talent or the other team or the game or the situation or anything else???? I'm sorry, I don't understand Greek. :naughty:

That's cool. If he's our man, then I am pulling for him and hope he's a genius.

I. I still think he would be an indication of failure on Fulmer's part. UT should have the cream of the crop banging our doors down, not settling (probably) because the cream of the crop want to actually do the job they are being hired for and thus stay/go where they can do that.

II. I've read in several places that he prefers a run-heavy pro-style offense. His stats bear that out. It was a good thing that he had the atheletes to do what he apparently would rather do on the field.

Again, no big deal either way. If he comes, I hope he is an uber-coordinator. If not, I hope the cream of the crop comes. Whoever it is, let's hope for fresh ideas and some backbone as part of the bargain.

I would think the majority of the cream of the crop have jobs they dont want to leave. Thats not a derog on Fulmer IMO

I can't resist!!!!

Once his first meeting with Phil is over, his system will consist of 1st down - WR screen. 2nd down - RB off tackle and 3rd town - short pass to the open receiver short of the 1st down!!!

at least you know the short pass to the open receiver short of the first down isn't called a screen pass

The more I've found to read about the guy... the more I'm convinced that not a few people in the coaching fraternity think of this guy as cream of the crop. He's a winner and obviously creative and adaptable.

Read his bio. He's had record setting passers and WR's as well.

I thought Cignetti was a great hire... none of the rest have really appealed to me until this guy. Something about a young, creative, disciplined guy who is a proven winner capable of turning really bad teams into good ones... makes me think he belongs firmly within the group that has been considered before now.

I look forward to seeing his offense then.
