several contributing factors.....the loss of corporal punishment in schools, when people figured out they can get money from the gov't for doing nothing, not instituting the "loser pays" in the judicial system, rewarding people for bad behavior such as having lots of children out of wedlock for a payday. The larger the gov't, the smaller the citizen, so why be a real man when the taxpayers will take care of me? IMO just sayin'
