Any ideas on who starts immediately out of this class and any ideas how our defensive line plays out?

Really hard to speculate on this when most of these kids have not even practiced with the team yet...

The funny part about it is that a senior that has been there four years in that same spot and here comes a guy fresh out of high school to start " The impression on the senior face is priceless"

Nevin Mckenzie, Kenny O'Neal and Eric Berry. Chris Donald will get some playing time as well. Donald Langley because he enrolled early and a lack of depth at DT.

Do you have inside info on this or are these hunches? I'm just curious....I mean I want to come in and start and play well but especially with the high school guys...this is the SEC not high school football like they have played...I guess to me it's hard to speculate who is going to start when they haven't even practiced with the team yet...

Going by positions of need, Mckenzie and O'Neal have to play. We need a headhunting safety and a gamechanging reciever. There is not alot of depth in the defensive backfield (projected starters CB= Roshuan Fellows and ?. Safeties= Heffney and ?.) This leaves the door open for Berry to come in and play. And Donald is better than Dorian Davis who was on special teams last year as a true freshman. Recievers are up in the air because Briscoe doesn't like the middle of the field, Slick Shelley and Austin Rogers have been hurt/illness and Lucas Taylor is not big enough. Quinton Hancock has a chance as well as Ricardo Kemp. But a JUCO like O'Neal should come in and start. This is how I based my opinions.

I think it is obvious that the new recruits have not practiced with the team yet. I merely asking for speculation based on our needs. I appreciate you pointing that out once or TWICE, but most of the threads are simply posted to provoke thought and conversation on our team. :good!:

Kenny O'Neal will be UT's No. 1 WR next season from the start. Gerald Jones will also have a chance to start at WR if he signs with UT.

Speculate away then...not trying to provoke you or anyone else...the practice thing was said once directed at the whole and then again to just who I was quoting and asking...I was just throwing my 2 cents in like everyone else....:eek:k:

Eric Berry at CB or Safety. Especially now that Wade, Stewart, and Morley are gone. Pretty thin back there.

There are quite a few that could start. It just depends on who gets in and what happens in practice.

Berry will start. One of the DTs (whoever does the best in practice) will start because of lack of depth. McKenzie will probably start at SS.

O'Neal and Jones will get time at WR as well as maybe Vinson.

when is the last time a true freshman started at WR at UT???? Remember, UT runs that complicated offense and it has been a long time since a true freshman has played as a wide out. Meach was redshirted.

Kids now days have very very complicated systems in high school.. It doesnt matter anymore how complicated systems are... If you are that talented you'll play...

Cut can take page out of Urban's book and use the athletes he just got. Use em like Percy Harvin/ tim tebow. They dont need to learn the entire play book. Make a package and use it. Historically, TN has sucked at doing this. I rem when they have done it in the past. Everyone knows it's a rush. Put a pass in there Cut.

Meachem was hurt. That is why he redshirted. Our WR system was complex until this year when we decided to only play our WRs at one position, instead of learning the X, Y, and Z positions.

Well I promise you that Gerald wont have any problems learning the system, we run a pretty complicated no-huddle system and he had it down after a week, and that was knowing what every position was doing...

I guess the question with a freshman receiver is always going to be can they make adjustments on the fly and run the hot routes.
