What really went wrong in Knoxville? THE CAL PERSPECTIVE

Alabama has been pretty bad for like the last ten years or so no?
You could say that, however, you certainly don't know much about the history of college football, much less Tennessee's history with Alabama, if you are unaware of Alabama's impact on college football in the overall tradition of the game.

Up and down for them. Won a conference title more recently than UT.

Could win it again in 2007.

Wow, over Florida, Georgia and UT? Just because Saban or do they have good talent. I would be more worried about GA and FL, not that it is any of my business.

I don't the Pac 10 is quite to the level of the SEC yet, but have made big gains over the past couple of years.

Yeah that's what I mean. I am not saying the Pac is better than the SEC, no way. I just think we should play more often as I feel we are the preeminent conferences.

I think if the SEC teams would play more Pac 10 teams it would greatly benefit the Pac 10 and speed up their process on becomming one of the top conferences in the nation.

Trust me man, I know how great they were. I think as recently as 92 they were really good. Times change though. I am hoping things in the Pac will change also. USC is a really good team and they always are in our way.

Yeah and we would care more about D. Out here the main goal is a fast O. Last year against you guys it didn't do jack. That has to change this year or we will lose again.

Yeah I think that the Pac-10 needs to adjust their style of play to match non-conference opponets and be more competitive.

Both of the last two comments are sooooooo true. That is the thing that USC always seems to beat the conference with, a great D. Our offenses are pretty good but our D can be pretty bad. Why is that? I mean you can't tell me that is is talent. It has to be the coaching.

This year I thinks USC has the best and most athletic defense in the country to go along with a great and powerful offense.

So, so true. Out here it is all about run and gun. We need to be more worried about shutting down your O in my opinion. If we can hold you to a low scoring game, and our O can then deliver, we could (and I emphasize could) win.

Does it annoy everyone back there how good they always are? I mean we have to like them because they help our conference look better, but I am sick of all the good recruits from all over the country going there. They get kids from all over. Cal pretty much recruits California, Arizona and Texas.

Yeah, it seems like here in the SEC we all focus on defense and out there in the west you focus on offense. If we could all find the right balance like USC or another powerhouse we could be successful.

Yeah, I mean USC is just a modern marvel IMO. They always seem to be loaded on both sides of the ball. Is it the allure of LA or Pete Carol? Or both maybe?

Yeah, when they started their dynasty there a couple of years ago I dont think that the Pac-10 was that great and USC was able to get everyone, but now as the PAc-10 begins to improve it will be important for some west coast teams to start getting some of those recruits are USC will continue to win championship after championship after championship. I feel that here in the SEC we have so much parity that it's really hard for a team to seperat itself from the pack due to all of the talent this conference has, but if the Pac-10 can continue to improve USC may fall.

Yeah, good point. I guess USC really pissed off LSU when they got the best RB out there this year who was from Louisiana. When you can go into someone elses back yard and steal the cream of the crop you know you have clout.

USC has won 5 straight PAC10 Titles.

That's not gonna help anyother team with recruiting.

Somebody other than USC needs to win the PAC10 if you wanna spread out the recruits.
