What qualities to you most want to see in a new coach.

Other than a coach that can win obviously..what do you want the new coach to bring here.

I think discipline is one of the most needed things for UT right now.

I agree discipline is a must in a new coach for UT. I would like to see somebody that isn't afraid to show some emotion. Somebody that prospects want to play for and learn from.

I would like an energetic coach that shows discipline to his players. I would like to see an end to the stupid 15 yard personal foul penalties without dealing with the coach and sitting. I would like a coach that is familiar with our rivals and their coaches and a coach that can either recruit or has guys on his staff that can recruit. I would like a coach that sees value in having a good special teams so that our opponent doesn't start at midfield every drive. I would like a coach that wants to stay here and is not looking at Tennessee as a spring board to the next high paying job.

Proven winner in a tough conference, imaginative offensive system, but nothing weird (spread, run and shoot, etc.), good recruiter, good with media, good with parents.

All we need is a great manager and good gameday coach. The secret that guys like Carroll, Saban, etc...have figured out is coordinators and recruiters are the most important and being able to manage them effectively is key. Position coaches should be recruiters first, coaches second. The most important hire should be the coordinators. A killer DC and a wizard for OC, with about 10 recruiters coaching the positions.

If the HC can do that, we should hire him...I don't care if his name is Mickey Mouse.

He's gotta be a good story teller.

wow...i know this is a shot at me. its amazing how pathetically you read my post earlier. i did not say it was a bad move to see fulmer go. i simply said it is sad that we won't have a guy at HC who knows the stories of tennessee traditions. get a grip dude...winning is most important, but there is a beauty to having a coach who knows what it is to go up against bama and florida. its the reason that schools like notre dame, penn state, usc, bama, and tennessee are so amazing. the story that lingers with programs is so important. so get over your inability to not understand a post. out.
