What other message boards are saying (UGA post game edition)

I think it’s too early to say either of these things. UT and UGA are good . . . But I suspect Bama is not as bad as they looked against FSU (FSU played a flawless game).

I will say Texas does not impress me. By the games so far, I think:

1. LSU
2. UGA or TAMU
3 UT or BAMA or Oklahoma
4. Ole Miss or Texas

And I see little that separates any of these teams. If we don’t get our DTs back . . . And one of our starting corners, we will drop 2-3 more games.
Lsu needs to be moved down imo. They beat a bad clemson team and a bad florida team. Neither by an impressive amount. Miami really showed how bad usf is and clemson has struggled against in all of their games.

Somewhat muted response from the mouth breathers this time. A couple zingers in there but not anywhere near the usual. We finally have some talent to play with them.

The Neyland comment is a common one I’m hearing from people that were there. Everyone is saying for the caliber of game it was the crowd was not nearly as loud as it generally is. One excuse I’ve seen floating around is we are out pricing the average person. I tend to agree.
I was there. Half of the stadium was baking in the sun about the whole game while some concession stands even ran out of water so I think that contributed to lower energy unfortunately. This should have been a night game

Agree, the average passionate fan has been priced out, the wine and cheese crowd are just there to socialize
There will probably be less mustard golf ball throwing, but let’s face it, rednecks are more rowdy, and drunks 😂 maybe a little less of that (not knocking it, those are my people lol) and day games are a little more tame traditionally

Yep sleepy Neyland slept 2 and 3rd quarter. Not loud on TV after the first quarter.

It was just as loud as ever where I was sitting. It did get quiet when UGA took the lead but everyone perked back up when we retook the lead.

I don't think it is the prices but maybe could be the effect of folks getting used to winning coupled with getting really loud followed by the opponent converting the 3rd or 4th down.

When you are leading like we were, the need to get loud dwindles - followed by UGA taking the lead in the third. That ebb and flow happens with every crowd.

Was UGA penalized once in the second half?
Early postgame comment during recap stated zero UGA flags in second half.

I don't think they were. They also benefited by PI calls at certain times. The PI calls don't bother me if they are called the same on both sides - they weren't.

The stadium looked packed to me. Are you saying the people who bought tix on the secondary market don't make noise? That doesn't make sense.

Is it bad that I think more about beating Alabama, Florida, and Georgia than even making the playoffs? I am now focused on Alabama. I also want us to get revenge on the bacons from Arkansas. Can't afford to lose in Starkville, I think that one will be tougher than we expect.

Oklahoma is another intriguing one as well. Oklahoma is a major blue blood so beating them again would feel great.

I am also looking forward to Florida at end of the year. Not only do I hope Tennessee wins, I hope they blow them out in the Swamp and shut up all the posters on here that talk about Florida curse.

We both know the crowd falls asleep when we are down. We weren’t down much so I think it should have rocked more. Just my opinion.

I’ve never been disrespectful to the Vols or any member on this forum, until now. You @Jaxon_Vol2017 can NUCK OFF!!!
You’re good, but the rest of your fanbase is giving Ohio state and LSU a run for their money on the biggest **** fanbases. The irony of ga fans saying TN held all game and it wasn’t called is ridiculous. You weren’t penalized the whole second half. Go back and watch how many holds you had when we couldn’t extend drives. Gunner is serviceable at best. Wouldn’t trade him for JA. Now if I’m a ga fan, I’d be worried that you have been top 5 in recruiting for all of Kirby’s tenure and one of the youngest teams in the sec outplayed and out coached y'all minus the strip sack fumble and final drive. The future is bright on rocky top and I have a feeling we’ll see you again.

One of the more painful losses I can remember honestly. They needed a TD on fourth down, 2 pt conversion and a missed FG to survive. If we execute on any of those plays better, we come out with the victory. Smart is one helluva coach but Heupel took his defense apart in ways I’ve never seen it taken apart.
Bryce Young in that SECCG in 2021 and Baker Mayfield in the Rose Bowl are the only two other times I can remember one of his Georgia defenses getting lit up like that. It puts Joey in elite company.

I agree with much of what you say, and yes, GA fans fussing about holding is ridiculous. I didn’t get the feeling at all that the refs were intentionally calling for one side or the other.

Also, I agree that JA is a better QB than Gunner, especially at this point. Although, I was pleasantly surprised that Gunner did look much improved. I’ve no clue what his ceiling is, but I do feel better about him than I had previously.

I don’t really have an opinion on who out coached who or which team outplayed the other. Both teams had ups and downs throughout the game. I will sincerely say this, as I’ve stated in a previous post game comment, TN absolutely deserved to win this game, and played well enough to win. That’s not to say I believe GA deserved to lose, I truly think our teams are comparable to one another.

In closing, I just gotta say very enthusiastically, this was one hell of a game!!! I concur that the future looks bright on rocky top, and I agree that there is a very good chance that we will meet again this season. It would not surprise me in the slightest if we play for the SEC Championship.

Could be my orange glasses but it just felt like for most of the game (coach strength on strength) TN was having their way. Part of that could be because y'all have been so dominant but our young guys showed out. Honestly it’s hard to tell how good your offense was. Running game is top notch, the fourth down throw was beautiful but other than that Stockton didn’t look great and they picked on the true freshman a lot. Our defense has taken a step back from last year and our injuries sure didn’t help. Great game though. As for the referees, they weren’t atrocious as the SEC is accustomed to but the second half lack of calls on ga was noticeable, specifically holding in the secondary and on the oline. I know we got away with some as well. All that to say, don’t play conservative after a gift wrapped fumble, don’t ice your own kicker and run the damn ball on the third down for a closer attempt and it’s probably a different outcome.

To be honest, I only heard it read that comment on here. The GA fans we spoke to said it was loud. The 3rd qtr GA drive was quiet as they went 75 yards in roughly 9 running plays. The fans did their part. And guess what/ many UGA fans could NOT get tix. This was the smallest UGA crowd in Neyland that I can recall.
For what it’s worth the tracker on TV showed the crowd noise at 126 to 127 decibels at times. Announcers said it was loud.

I’m sure I’m guilty of looking at most of this game through my Red & Black glasses. I didn’t notice the lack of holding calls on the line or in the secondary against GA, but to be fair, I wasn’t at all looking for it. I was enjoying watching a great game! There were times when I felt like a nervous wreck!🤣

Yeah, I’m not sure how high the ceiling for our offense goes. To be honest, we looked better than I expected on offense, but we absolutely tried to take advantage of the inexperienced players on TN’s defense. Correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t you guys missing both of your starting cornerbacks? I can’t deny that this absolutely had a huge impact on the game.

The coaching and play calling on the last TN drive of regulation didn’t do y’all’s kicker any favors, it in fact added pressure to a kick that already had a tremendous amount of pressure attached to it! It’s a kick that Gilbert would without doubt usually make easily. Very tough spot for him to be in. I do think it was encouraging that even after that tremendous let down he rebounded quickly. I can’t even begin to imagine what that poor kid felt like after missing a game winning kick, but to his credit, he drilled almost the same kick minutes later in overtime. No, this certainly doesn’t make up for missing the game winning kick, but it does show that the kid has an immense amount of fortitude, and that is a great attribute for a kicker to have and could pay huge dividends in the future for you guys.

Yeah. It was. My ears are still ringing.

3rd qtr drive by UGA was only exception. But it’s difficult to get amped when they drive 7-8 yard each rush attempt. And even then, the crowd tried. 😝

Yes please read our forums.
-We won, it’s all that matters. Tennessee is in the same tier as Auburn. Bama & Texas are both better than Tennessee. I’m more concerned about those two.

I call bs. I think we saw the best two teams in the sec play yesterday
Whats hilarious about that comment is that idiot watched Bama lose to FSU and Texas struggle heavily on offense and thinks they are both better than the team that literally should have beat them. Hilarious.

Here are some of my thoughts:

Alabama - Under DeBoer struggles on the road. They will look great in Tuscaloosa (not good for us) but won't hold up on the road. Let's see how they do in Athens.

LSU - Great Defense that is going to keep them near the top. Not sure what is going on with their passing game. It has been terrible so far despite all the offseason hype and returning starters

South Carolina - I know they aren't a real contender anymore, I just want to ditto what I said about LSU. South Carolina's QB and offense was hyped coming in but hasn't done jack. It is baffling (Clemson as well but they are not in the SEC)

Georgia - Best team in SEC until proven otherwise. I think Gunner Stockten is for real and if I was a Heisman voter, he would be #1

Texas A&M - Mike Elko has them playing better and I liked the hire. I think they will find a way to win some games they shouldn' t this year. I had them at 8-4 but I think they will do better.

Oklahoma - I have them #2 after Georgia. Complete team on both sides of the ball. I think Tennessee has a better offense but Oklahoma's defense is sick. Oklahoma might have the best defense in the entire SEC.

Tennessee - Probably #3 after OU or #4 after LSU. I think they (or we) will struggle to beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa

Texas - I am NOT sold on Texas anymore. I am leaning towards OU handing them a 2nd loss and Georgia finishing them. Even Arkansas and A&M don't seem easy for them anymore. Vandy could potentially beat Texas as well.

Vandy - You laugh but I think Vandy is a serious team this year. Probably not a playoff team but they could go 7-5 or 8-4. They will beat someone they shouldn't, hopefully not Tennessee.

Ole Miss - I haven't been impressed by them, but they have a soft schedule

Missouri - I think this team could be a sleeper to go 10-2 with their schedule and get in the playoff. We will see. They do have to play Alabama and Oklahoma.

If I had to rank based on what I have seen, it would be like this:

1. Georgia
2. Oklahoma
3. LSU (tie)
3. Tennessee (tie)
5. Texas
6. Alabama
7. Texas A&M
8. Missouri
9. Ole Miss
10. Vandy

I don't think anyone outside of this stack is a playoff contender although Auburn and Miss State are pretty good.
So Stockton for heisman after doing worse against a lower tier defense in Tennessee than Aguiler did against uga defense?? Got it
Oh it must have been the video game numbers against Austin peay that did it for you

I tend to agree. LSU looks pretty solid though, time will tell. Bama has the talent to challenge for the top spot, but can they? I say this today and two weeks from now Bama will roll into Athens and put 50 on us! Please please please God don’t allow this to happen. Yes, I’m not above praying about sports! Be honest, many of you do the same!😂
LSU has been absolutely TRASH on offense so far this season.

It was plenty loud, but it's been louder. Bama in '22. FL last year. Probably Bama last year as well.
